Hi Luke, I take it you mean Quartz, you can either dissolve the quartz away from the gold using acids or you can crush the quartz in a dolly pot and pan away the gold from the crushed quartz, read back through the archives and you will most likely find a thread on using acid.

G'day LuKe ... nice to meet you! I'm guessing that you have found yourself a nice specimen piece, considering that you're asking about the ways to separate the gold from the quartz, or whatever it is embedded in. Congratulations on your find.

I think those Members who have the knowledge to assist you with your request, have already given you a couple of really good suggestions. There are many Members within this forum who are very helpful and are always willing to share their experience and knowledge.

Good luck to you with your future gold hunting! Q39

I've had to tidy up a few loose messages here guys. Let's now stay on topic and not deviate to pointless and silly idiosyncrasies. I really do hope that my point is clearly understood. Mad

Thank you for your vote of confidence Digginerup, but it's not a good idea to test me on a Sunday afternoon.
As far as a spellcheck goes, I'm not aware that there is one. I have downloaded a free program called "speckie" that incorporates itself into IE and underlines words that need checking, and you can right click them to get different options (with the correct spelling).

Microsoft Word, will wrap your computer and spell check all work you do on the computer even writing on the internet reply text section.

Diggenerup ... I have no idea how or why, but when I'm typing a message here and I make a general spelling error, it is automatically corrected. It seems to only work on general conversational words though. It could be because I only recently did an upgrade to Internet Explorer.

It is fair to say the art of computers largely escapes me, I get by with the aid of a brother who lives and breathes it and loves the stuff, even though he lives in Perth, between the two of us ( him 99% me 1%) we keep the beast alive!!! I am sure there will be several methods Kate of which I know none! lol!
