Recently hearing impaired gold prospector wishes to sell 1 x pair of slightly used Snake Gaiters.
Excellent condition apart from minor puncture holes and venom residue.

Oooooohhhhh you lot are so awful making fun of a poor old fart who actually is deaf as a post. Or so my wife thinks

Nahhh, ya  got  it all wrong Jim, we are  not making fun, we are simply trying to get to the bottom of why they are up for sale.  

This has been accomplished now in the brief report below.

A prospector (no names mentioned) went deaf through the use of snake gaiters, the snake penetrated the cheap coiltek branded gaiter causing the user to go deaf. This observation was also picked up by the prospectors wife soon after a failure in field testing. A failure to comply with the Australian safety std ACN-5091187-D that prohibits the use/sale of non complying safety equipment to prospectors was clearly overlooked.
As a result, the prospector lost his ability to hear correctly, he now compares his disability to that of a wooden posts ability to comprehend the spoken language. This observation is not consistent with common findings in  regards to snake bites, and is a medical first. While further investigation into this is continuing, it  clearly shows how important it is to use only certified equipment preventing such tragedies in the future.

Snakes are deaf, perhaps they are contagious in that when bitten you go deaf.

I never thought of that. That must be why I become super sensitive to the vibration of footsteps from She Who Must Be Obeyed. But on the upside I can easily sense the vibrations of a stubby or can being placed on the table or bar. On the downside I can't tell when a backhander from behind is heading at light speed for the back of my head.

Life sure has its ups and downs.

Lol, Narrawa you certainly are a creative fella. I imagine a few beers with you around a camp fire would be interesting indeed. I have been known to be creative myself but I think you do a better job of it.

maybe 5091187D would explain in better detail the effect these products have on prospectors?
The big question being, will wearing said product be in fact detrimental to ones hearing alone
or do the ill effects only occur after bad snakey has sunk his/her fangs into gaiters aid   
Depending on the type of snake, may it not be in our best interest to just shoofty of for a stab of antivenom rather than not being able to
answer the doctor because we couldn't hear the question in the first place, actually the second place unless they do call outs, or!
