First MEGA-NUGGET footage from the Sudan... WOW!
Here it is... the first videos are trickling in from the Sudan so you folks can finally see what ALL THE FUSS was about! Just remember that they get MUCH BIGGER than this. These are slightly larger than average but multi-kilo nuggets are typical over there for many detectorists. Shame they don't care so much about the scarcity of the nuggets at this size... as you will shortly see...

After you've stopped sobbing to yourself at the sight of these guys cutting/smashing a nugget into thirds to "make it easier to carry", please feel free to take a look at a few more videos which surfaced recently. Not sure these folks understand how to sweep a coil correctly. Perhaps now you can see why the Canadians estimate that an average of between 6 and 12 kilos of gold is won per 48 hours by each person with a Minelab GPX-4500 over there. Right now, they all want HUGE coils. Perhaps now you can see why.

Re: First MEGA-NUGGET footage from the Sudan... WOW!
Couple more. Nice looking gold btw.
The last picture is one that I took myself and it's only a little one compared to the monsters above. The reason this nugget looks so flat is because it was smashed flat with a rock over an anvil so that the nugget would more easily fit into a wallet. Yep. I'm not kidding.

Re: First MEGA-NUGGET footage from the Sudan... WOW!
I Agree with Detrackozi
That big nugget with the guy putting the rag on his head can't be a solid nugget , not even close.
May be a good specimen but that's it, that size would be like picking up a blacksmiths anvil with two fingers.
The others look real enough and dam fine gold but the cutting up bit was a bit sad to see.
Good post Marco but I wouldn't like to be over there as I bet you wouldn't live very long.
Cheers Mark

Im not sure what happened to these fellas, but they dont look too excited, maybe the strain of gold fever over there can be fatal at much higher rates than anywhere else. very nice nuggets i hope they keep cutting them up and melting them down.

Re: First MEGA-NUGGET footage from the Sudan... WOW!
Gollstar, I was initially baffled by your choice of video (it seemed a little inappropriate at first) because it features a whole bunch of dead people. At first glance, I wondered what you were aiming for but the footage is by no means gory, just terribly sad. The video depicts a number of people who went out looking for gold and they all seemed to die within a short distance of one another. If you read the English title, you'll see that the video really is quite suited for this thread. I believe your choice of video to be quite suitable to the subject at hand since it shows the effects of taking to the more arid regions of the desert to look for gold without sufficient supplies (especially water).
An associate of mine agrees with you about them cutting up their large nuggets... the more that are cut up and smashed flat, then the fewer remaining large nuggets will exist in the world. It's still terrible to watch but these guys have absolutely NO concept of the value of intact nuggets and are paid whatever they can get for the gold. Since gold is so plentiful there, the buyers are always dropping the "buy" price. Just wait till they discover a Dry Blower.
Interesting post.
Cheers,
Marco

Re: First MEGA-NUGGET footage from the Sudan... WOW!
I was fortunate enough to get to fondle a nugget about as big as that one in the second post a few years ago. It was definately a two hander...he handles that one with way too much ease for its size

Was thinking the same thing tuna, pretty strong blokes these skinnies.
Im waiting for the scams to pop up now.
You know, i have this large amount of gold but the goverment wants 70% of it but ill sell it to U for only 50% all i ask is a small token of good will.......... say $100G should be ok . And then there will be i need some extra to bribe the custom people etc etc.
Still nice looking gold.
Regards
John
