Re: VEAC DECISION ON PARKS
Hi goldylox, Thanks for posting this. When you open the media release there is a link at the end of it to a page with the final report file on it.
The media release says:
"The report recommends eight additional areas in three parks (Lerderderg State Park and the Alpine and Lake Eildon national parks) totalling 22,339 hectares could be made available for recreational prospecting."
and
The council also recommended additional conditions and restrictions on any recreational prospecting if introduced into these parks. These included panning only in waterways, with sluices and motorised equipment not to be used for the processing of excavated material, maximum volume of material excavated be limited to one cubic metre, and damage to land to be repaired the same day it is caused.

Re: VEAC DECISION ON PARKS
At this stage its only a proposal?
The Government has the right to approve or refuse the outcome?
The VNPA are going to use Federal power to overthrow the proposal?
Makes one wonder was there any point in asking for Park Access, towards the back of the report looks like we shall get a review of current regulations and
shortcomings in other areas
like the Box Ironbark, Golden Triangle etc! Parks Rangers to be given extra training to enforce Rules & regulations or review existing access entitlements?
It would seem the volume processed could go Statewide and allowable equipment restrictions tightened.
