Eldorado for detecting?? Empty Eldorado for detecting??

Post  CostasDee Mon Apr 08, 2013 9:58 pm

Hi guys,

An opportunity has come up where my mother-in-law is going to be house-minding a place up in Eldorado for a few weeks. She's a pretty good stick and doesn't mind a visit or 2 so I thought I'd do a little research on the area. Although I know that panning and slucing is what's done in the area, I was wondering if detecting was also done around there, but I can't seem to find any info relating to it so maybe it's too deep? Anybody tried to have a swing around there?

Cheers

Hi fabphil,
I've done a little research about it and from what I can see, there doesn't seem to be much if any nuggetty gold up there. There are other areas about 30 to 150 kms away that have produced nuggets but not Eldorado itself. I'll keep looking....

CostasDee, you will find Eldorado is mainly a fine gold area, but nuggets the size of a pea have been found.
One thing although sluicing and panning is allowed in the National Park there (for now), Metal Detecting is not allowed as any finds would be deemed a relic and belong to the Crown (and this is not just in the Historic Area either).

Costas, Grab a gold pan and leave the techtu at home mate! Sad
There's been a few guys that reckon they scored some nice nuggets from the area?
Highly doubtful as the guys with the said finds have left all the forums Suspect Laughing
