Google Earth Gold
Did any of you get the G & T Year mag and read the story from Jim & Cheryl Foster(Granite) on there WA trip 2009 to Six Mile Goldfields South of Sandstone would like to say it was a nice read and I bet it got alot fired up to get over there to give it a go.
It was good of him to give all a insight on using Google earth as a research tool to all that is new to it and the area they were working so would you like a better Google map to view on your PC or in Ozi-Explorer just in case you get over there it my help you to home in on some spots to try.
Here is a link to download a map I did of the area in Google Earth
http://www.4shared.com/file/207526435/6c9c2487/Ozi_Sandstone_South_Map_Google.html
with some of the 1:100 000 Geodata as overlay onto it and it is Ozi-Explorer or OziCe ready so you can use it to track you way in
Some of the Data I will post up as Kml file's so as you can put them into your CAR-NAVIGATION-SYSTEM POI folder that were are doing under General Prospecting Answers/GPS, Mapping, Internet/Portable Car Navigation System and use them to help you get there first before the mad new gold rush that will start now.

Re: Google Earth Gold
I'd say it could be the position on your mouth,, to much to the left would initiate an error while to much right would most likely cause BSOD.
Im using same ver also. 3.95.5

Re: Google Earth Gold
I was interested to have a look at that map but as yet haven't been able to open it. We will be hitting Sandstone ourselves again this year but usually don't return to our old spots. We mostly leave those places to others and look for new areas we haven't yet looked at.
You may be right about a new rush starting up in the Sandstone area as there were more than the usual number of folk there last season following my story Sandstone Gold the previous year.
I remember how Tibooburra became a mecca for many following the many stories we did on that area and I often wonder how much gold is left there. Last year I was told be several who visited Tib that they did pretty well but simply loved the area and would, like us, return many times again just to experience the incredible country.
To us WA is a bit like a much bigger Tibooburra, we love everything about the place and will continue to return, and write about it as long as we can continue to do so.
As to thos people who follow our exploits and stories I can say that you will continue to get gold at all the places we have written about for many years yet. We have, for instance been visiting Hawks Nest, Red Flag, Murrin Murrin, Wilsons, Erliston, Swincers, etc, for many years and last year did quite well when we visited some of those places again. Wilsons was probably the biggest surprise but even Cue turned up trumps again last year. We only visited for a few days but got about two ounces.
We aren't worried that others follow our information and get gold. In fact we get a big kick out of seeing others who haven't been having much luck find some nuggets. We are happy to advise people on detector setting and coil choices for best effect on particular ground, but only in the field. Helping someone set up their machine and then being there when they find a bit gives us as big a thrill as finding gold ourselves, sometimes an even bigger thrill.
Our instructional CD's seemed to have helped a lot of people with the feedback over the last two years being exceptionaly pleasing. These CDs were designed to help people find more gold and it certainly seems they have done their job well. We look at the CDs as a little addition to the AG&T and other magazine stories we write to help everyone find gold and introduce more folk into what we think is the best hobby in the world. At this point we don't envisage a new CD coming along but you never know.
Good luck to all this season, we may see you in the field. Cheers, Granite.

Re: Google Earth Gold
Hi Detrackozi,
It opened fine in Ozi for me. I am a computer clutz, but I followed your instructions and put the two files in my MAP file. I understand ( I think !) what the map file is, but what actually does the ozfx3 file do ?
Thanks heaps for the info.
Jigalong.

Granite,
Good luck to you. We all got to make a buck to survive in this world.
I was just being a bit cheeky,
Jigalong.
