5000 not ground balancing? Or is it a target?
I made a video today when I was out in the field, makes it a whole lot easier to see what I am talking about
If anyone can help me that would be great. Seeing as there is no manual ground balance feature I can't adjust that to see whats going on.
Just ground noise?
Thanks
Ben

Hi Ben, try going to enhance and if the signal is gone I suspect it would be mineralisation perhaps accentuated by a little moisture.

G'day Ben I agree with Wayne 100%. I would also try putting your detector into Auto Tracking and try that as well. See how it goes in Auto Tracking the 5000 should tune it out.
Good luck. Mike.

Hi Ben
The concentration of moisture is higher in the centre than the sides, this is normal operation and made worse by the small mono.As the guys say try enhance or a bigger coil or maybe a DD.

Don't waste your time Ben.The signal to me seems very uniform in nature. You've struck a pocket of highly mineralized moist red dirt.If it were a positive signal, have no doubt, that as the coil got closer to the target, not only the louder the signal would get,but you should also notice a slight difference in the tone of signal.Small mono's as stated, are noisier over hot ground than larger mono's. I helped dig a 30 inch hole once for a friend who believed a positive signal was buried deep and right underneath a moist tree root, because he kept swinging his 17x11 NF over the tree root, only to find (after placing a small 12x7 mono in the hole) 0 noise. He sure was one persistent fellow, convinced a target was deeply buried and took the whole 30 inches of digging to finally convince him that it was the moist tree root itself giving off the faint but positive signal,to let it go.

Hi Ben, just want to say cheers for your vid. Have just got a 5000 and was out for a swing today and exprienced something very similar to what your vid showed. I had the 11 mono on and I was doing a lot of head scratching with what I eventually put down to ground noise. Like kon's mate i dug some deep holes (stopped before 30inches however!) I never thought off dropping back into enhance but will try this next time.
Thanks Pete.
