Anybody using a whites GMT goldmaster
Hi, We are wanting to know from anybody using or has used a whites GMT goldmaster what they think of there machine?
information sheet particulars that we have read seem to make it sound a good machine for gold but also for coin / relic hunting.
would machine be any good in the golden triangle or would ground be to mineralised?
Info states that coil is waterproof so we hope could use in creeks with water up to 3 foot deep (our asumption)
Any info or anything that any body would like to pass on about this machine would be greatly appreciated. - Real facts, not hearsay.
Thanks fellow prospectors.

Re: Anybody using a whites GMT goldmaster
Hi travelergold
I bought a GMT goldmaster at the start of Feb this year. Its my 1st detector and I'm new to detecting in general.
I have been out about 4 times now and run it for about 4-5 hours each time. Have yet to find anything as yet other than heaps of slugs, junk, cans, etc. But I have realised that every time I have returned empty handed, its my lack of knowledge of the overall use of the machine. I still need heaps more time to get to know the different sounds the detector makes with various metals and hopefully gold. I reckon I have missed heaps of small targets cos I've been focused on just listening for the louder sounds. Most of the places I've tested it on have been too mineralised for a newbie like me to start on.
I'll be spending this weekend at home placing small targets(lead, brass, iron, etc) in the backyard to listen to the slight differences they make and better learn to use all its features.
Sorry to rabble on, I guess the machine for me looks, sounds and feels great to use overall although I don't have another detector to compare it to.
- It ground balances fairly quickly and is light to use too.
- Haven't required to replace the AA batteries yet with about 20 hours so far, and the iron discriminator trigger is handy to have.
- Not yet immersed into water so cannot comment on waterproof.
I'd recommend you actually see one in person before you commit to buying it if you can to test for yourself.
Cheers

How deep?
Ok guys looking at getting a gold detector
Can get a new GMT for $995
Or something sd2100, sd2200, GPextreme for $1k - $2k if I keep an eye out.
Who can tell me how deep the GMT would go? is it only good at finding gold in the top 2 inches? Eg. If there was a 1/2 ounce nugget sitting down 1 foot it wouldn't see it.?
Haven't read about anything to do with finding larger gold only smaller.
Thanks
