G'day Ray, I've been playen around with similar concepts which all ended up in the bin Sad
Black sand build up was always the nightmare, good if you've only got course gold! for fine gold recovery I found the gutters needed to be about 40mm deep, Yuck!

Maybe someone else will come up with better results, out of control in my opinion unless you want to run the material through a number of times with different classification and water flow!!

Not much gear that doesn't work! how well it doesn't work is what you need to look out for Razz

Cheers

Good post mate. The boil box in a system dose work great the length and depth of the box also plays an important part in it's operation. Miners Moss tends to clog up in them a more open or woven mate works much better. Depending on the position of the box or box's in a banker cleanup can be a pain. In a river sluice there is no trouble in cleaning them.

Cheers
