GPX 4500 and the rumoured GPX5000
I have been having troubles sourcing a new 4500, seems to be a hold up in the production line? and am wondering if I should now delay my purchase and wait for the new 5000? I am using a 3500, and it picks up .4 gram size nuggets. Does anyone have any ideas please?
....... cheers

Re: GPX 4500 and the rumoured GPX5000
Hi Hanson, well we just brought another 4500 and Im getting ready for next year. The wife and I have a 4500 each now.. Try and get a 4500 IF you can and WHEN and if the 5000 comes out you can always do a trade.. I wouldnt pay anymore than 5500 to 6000 dollors for a second hand unit .. I rang minelab the other day on a differant matter and was talking to ............ guy .. He said that they carnt make enough 4500 so why would they start with a new model.. not to say they are not testing to improve the 4500.. and the 5000 would have to be bloody good to make me look at it.... well thats what I think.. Bob
PS. there is a LOT of diferance between the 35.. and the 45.. well worth the change and by the time the 5000 come,s out you will have enough gold to pay for it... well.. smile a good thought..

Re: GPX 4500 and the rumoured GPX5000
Read the front page of this week's Eureka Echo magazine & you'll see that Minelab can't even come close to making enough 4500s to satisfy demand overseas. Magazine also states that a 27 kilogram single nugget was amongst the gold found by the Sudanese the other day. There was a 2 kilo nugget found there a few weeks ago according to Nero.HANSON wrote:I have been having troubles sourcing a new 4500, seems to be a hold up in the production line?
I heard they already had a bit of a long waiting list. Can we buy one without being on the list?GoldstalkerGPX wrote:Hanson, I have it from a good source that E.E Day in Ballarat have a new one in stock!!

Re: GPX 4500 and the rumoured GPX5000
3 week wait for a new 4500 ( not 3 months as suggested by a dealer on here).
For F sake the 4500 been out for near on 2 years now it getting pretty long in the tooth (although its still the latest and best) unless you have relos in Sudun who are tonguing for one wait for the new one and besides it almost summer.
Regards
PS $5500 to $6000 is bullocks price to pay, bide ya time me old son there will soon be a glut of 4500s available mark my words (or post i guess in this case).

Re: GPX 4500 and the rumoured GPX5000
Hi all, Bendigo gold told me that there is a 4-6 week wait on the 4500, and that they won't be told of any new detectors until 7days before its release, they believe that there maybe a 5000 coming one day. Regards Johnny
4500 the next generation
hi all,
i,m sure a new model will come out eventually, after all minelab knows that we the prospectors are always looking forward to there new technology .and the trade ins of the 4500,s will undoutably be fast n furious. there fore the prices will drop on the second hand 45,s
and people who couldn,t afford them now will get their chance to have a crack at them later on. money makes the world go round and
techonology keeps mine lab in buisness. if the 4500,s turns out to be the last model then you can almost kiss the goldfeilds goodbye,
tell me whats left after the 45,s clean up!!. no more depth ! no more sensitivity ! no quieter modes ! no more changes , no it won,t happen because if we stop finding gold there out of buisness . so look forward to any new models the only catch will be "how long this time before they come out"
cheers tom............

Re: GPX 4500 and the rumoured GPX5000
Hi Tom
We could walk over carpets of Nuggets that by there size and depth are fractionally out of range.A change in timings and frequencies will put some of these in range. With each new Minelab machine new windows of opportunity open up.With the price of gold on a sharp upward trend The thought of $100 per gram in the years to come will be a possibility. Each new minelab machine has incremental increases. The mind boggles as to how many 1gram nugs are just afew millimetres out of range,Multiply this buy every goldfield buy every size of nugget and the figure is astronomical. The 5000 wont be the end of the story either will the 5500 6000 and so on
Cheers Dig

Re: GPX 4500 and the rumoured GPX5000
Hi all, I say if you are undecided wether or not to wait for the next model, wait.....It will give us guys with the 4500 more time to clean up some more patches. If you do not want to find more gold today then put it off. All personal choice really!
I was thinking of buying a new car, but then maybe I should wait for the model that flies.
As was said, with every new model there is always a little something extra or it wouldn't be a new model, would it!
Cheers.

Re: GPX 4500 and the rumoured GPX5000
The NEXT MINELAB. Would Codan ML consider it in their best interests to release a new model anytime in the near future?
Would it make any sense? As most of us have been conditioned to expect a new release every two years or so we wait with eager anticipation.
Will we see an updated 4500 in the next six months? Not Likely. It seems demand exceeds production by about four to six weeks depending on which dealer you listen to.
Good marketing, absolutely. Why would a new marque with all the associated launch costs be released when optimum Sales and bottom line are being achieved easy peasy now and for the foresee able future?
No doubt the next machine is being tested right now but is it a half step forward a hybrid of the 4500. I don’t think so, my guess is it will be a leap if not a small one into hitherto uncharted ground, and just maybe we will see some of the no go zones such as discrimination and at depth addressed.
But the pressure from others such as the developers of low cost pIs like the QED May force their hand,

Re: GPX 4500 and the rumoured GPX5000
Shut up and stop asking. We are only customers. Codans bean counters will let us know when we need an upgrade and it will not come any sooner.
Let me be a sceptic for a moment if you will,
While there is demand for the current model that outweighs supply and an overwhelming amount of people that still support the older models on the basis of what was once found with them, then from a business point of view, why would any company move forward. In fact I would use this time to develop new technology while the old stuff is still selling.
Brett.
PS. I have heard that Dyson, Kirby and hoover are trying to corner the market but Westinghouse has frozen the market. LOL

Re: GPX 4500 and the rumoured GPX5000
It may be true that demand is outstripping supply, maybe because the ML production line is geared up to make the 5000 and their stock of 45's that was intended to tie them over until the 5K introduction date, was near sold out by the recent finds in Africa.
Then again for every 4500 sold, gives ML a later opportunity to sell the buyer a 5000 or later model.

hello Hanson a tad touchy old mate lighten up . you ask the same old question you get some diverse replies stops the boredom .
no offence.
Peter I see the logic in your thoughts but from what I have heard it will not happen for a while. Remember the 4000 launch hardly a triumph of marketing. AA

G'day Hanson, Good luck with the new detector!! had a look at that flying car, or was that a drivable plane??
I remember seeing in the Herald Sun many years ago (Front page) about a flying car, many orders were put in by celebs (was going to sell for 1 million clams)...Wacko Jacko was one, but they had to cancel that order.
Cheers
