Just Starting Out
Hi all,
Recently I just purchased a bounty hunter IV just to do some basic detecting around my area and some beach prospecting.
As a newcomer in this hobby. I'm curious if I'm require to purchase a miner rights license before venturing out detecting?
Many thanks,
Thien

Re: Just Starting Out
Not for beaches & parks, but you may need permission. You do need a miners right for gold or if in an area that could be considered goldfield. No big deal they can be picked up in most major goldfield towns. You can get a 2 year or 10 year license. 10 year is about $80 in Victoria.
Hope that helps.

Re: Just Starting Out
G'day Mundeok and wellcome to the forum... As others have said relic or coin hunting no need for a licence or permits... You will need a Miners right for Prospecting for gold or gemstones...
Cheers.

Thanks Mike54
After started out this new hobby last months. I was excited finding much coins $1, $2, and alot of junks metal.
Bounty Hunter IV was very limited in features. Therefore, I decided grab myself Minelab X-Terra 70 on eBay.
WOW...its so much BIG different and much more less digging of junks metal. haha
X-Terra 70 detector came with relic and gold coils
Jump and grab myself a Mining Permit (haven't try even prospect with it yet) hahaha
Below are some find I found with the X-Terra 70
