Starting package
Gday all!
I'm just getting into detecting and need some advice on where to start. I have a budget around $2000.. should I purchase something brand new ( SD ) or something second hand ( GP 3000 )
Clermont will be my local hunting ground and we are just getting our first rains now. I've heard this makes the ground noisy.. can some one please explain that a bit better?
I hired a machine from Andrew at Clermont dectors and went out last week end, no yellow but i did find an old black powder slug.. not quite a musket ball. Any know of a website to identify?
Cheers Chris

Re: Starting package
Hi Chris,
With a budget of $2000 i would probley be looking at a second hand gp 3000 to give yourself a better chance of
finding gold as opposed to a sd series machine. all the best mate.

Re: Starting package
Chris
To answer your question as to why the ground gets noisey in wet weather is more of an issue with the newer detectors
using the smooth class timming, which there are other timmings on the latest detectors that can be used to combat the wet ground.
Not such an issue with the older model detectors.
Hope this helps with your question
