l'm trying to decide between 3 machines which one to get SD2000, GP extreme, GP 3000, each one a few hundred bucks more expensive then the other Whats the difference between each and which is the best and best value for money.

You pay for what you get, search here and at finders, plenty of info, pay as much as you can afford, each model is better than the one before it.

I had the GP extreme and was a very capable machine. A lot of gold was found with this machine, but then so was every other you have listed.

If it comes down to $$$. i would get any one of the GP series.

GP Extreme can be software-upgraded by Minelab to match firmware of the GP 3000. I think some GP 3000's actually say "GP Extreme" on the electronics board.

So from that point of view, the real diffrence between GPs is in the ground-balance button that 3000 has and Extreme does not. This button is a good little time saver.

As far as "value for money" goes either of the GP machines is good.

hi rtanweb

if that 3000 has a button on the handle, then someone fitted it themselves, as the ground balance button came out on the 3500

cheers

Fencejumper, I can't help myself.....I love your new avatar!!!

PS I still recon the SD2200d was one of the best machines ever made. I wouldn't discount them as they were and still are, fantastic, simple and performing detectors. Thay don't have all the new digital displays and the fancy modern comforts, but they're simple to use, fairly cheap to buy, and proven producers. (My biased 5c worth).

G'day Hotrock.

From the day dual voltage kicked in,threshold became smoother and coils became quieter on the ground.MPS was always prone to a more
erratic threshold as well as ground noise. Even though the SD2200 was one of the better and hassle free machines ever made by Minelab),If budget allows,my pick would still be the GP 3000.

Cheers kon61.

Hi Hotrock
I've used the Extreme and 3000 quite a bit they are very similar but the price isn,t so save yourself a few dollars.By the way the 3000 was great with the standard coil switched to mono.

G'day Hotrock.

The advantage of the GP3000 over the SD2000 is its ability to find smaller gold at greater depth.

Cheers kon61.
