Can the standard 15" mono that comes with the GPX5000 be used on a GP 3500? If so, what would be the optimum setting for dry ground around Maiden Gully Bendigo?

Yes it can, you just haven't got the same smooth type of timings to run it on the 3500, but it will work no worries.
