Re: gpx5000 commander 15x12 mono
Hi I have just purchased one of these coils also and would really appreciate some
tried and proven settings also. I have had a 5000 for six months and this is my first new coil.
I'm currently detecting around Maryborough Vic.
If any one can help it would be great! Cheers

Re: gpx5000 commander 15x12 mono
hey slippery, i have a 15x12 commander and iam running it on the 5000 , settings i stick with are close to all factory settings ,i stay in the fine gold setting when i using any coil and 15x12 coil purrs , yes a little heavy but its a weapon great on shallow targets and will dive deep ! i dont take it off very often mate, hope this helps you out , kelly

Re: gpx5000 commander 15x12 mono
Thanks Kelly for your reply, I went out over the weekend and dug loads of trash, some around two feet! And I'm happy with the fine gold setting and was set close to factory settings. I thought those settings would be o.k, thanks for the reassurance!!

Also works brilliant in Normal timing in the not so bad ground. You won't get as many sub grammers as you would in Fine-Gold, but if you're looking for sub grammers you should be using a smaller mono

Re: gpx5000 commander 15x12 mono
Hi, I had a 15 x 12 included with my GPX5000, but as I am new to detecting I'm not sure of the advantages/disadvantages of this coil. Could anyone suggest at what point I should switch from my 11" coil to the 15 x 12? Thanks

Re: gpx5000 commander 15x12 mono
I have used the 15x12 mono on my 4k5 many times, actually most times. The 11" is a great all round coil, good for the small bits and good for the deeper bits, but the 15x12 has just that fraction more advantage when it comes to depth and is still almost as sensitive as the 11" and it also has a larger footprint on the ground for searching new ground. You will find it a lot heavier to use than the 11" though, especially towards the end of the day, when your arm's about ready to fall off..... (unless your built like Arnold Schwarzenegger that is).

Re: gpx5000 commander 15x12 mono
I hate ta break it to ya's............. but there is no magic settings
My first advice to you is READ THE MANUAL and then.................. READ IT AGAIN and then guess what............. yep READ IT MORE TIMES.
Ive read mine 100's possibly 1000's of times.
What you need to do is learn what all of the setting's do and why and how to apply them for the best advantage.
As for coils the 15x12 is a pretty good all-rounder like costas says but you need to get a better understanding on how to select the right size coil for what ever size target you are trying to find and the depth of the soil you are working if you want to become a successful operator as there is no magic coil ether.
Coils are like screwdrivers and each has its job and you need to learn about them.
