Hi all,
Great forum, good stories and info so thought I would go and register.
Started detecting in the early 80's around Karratha, Roebourne, Whim Creek areas, left the area in mid 90's, managed to collect a few ounces while there.
Have been out of it for quite a while but have managed to have another go recently with work
Live in Perth but do the FIFO thingo with FMG at the moment. Made a couple of trips to Nullagine which is just up the road and found a few pieces.
Hoping to get some leave soon and give it a proper bash and hopefully meet a few people out there.
All the best to everyone out there and hope you get some.
Cheers,
John

Hi Sandy,
Thanks for the welcome.
Was a Garrett Groundhog which was pretty much hot off the press. Great machine to use in it's day, found me 5 oz's worth, all small nuggets about 1-3 gr.
Used it for ages and still have it but nowadays use it at thwe school oval with the grandkids to find a few coins for them to go get lollies at the shop
Brought a GPX4500 couple of years ago and have been using that. No other machines in between. Steep learning curve working out the 4500 but have got the hang of it now and found a few bits around the Nullagine area. All great fun.
Cheers

Cheers Mick and Wayne,
Any day away from work or the rat race is a good thing, even better when you find something
