Sd 2100 battery

Hi all I am a newbee to the forum and prospecting. I have been reading that some members upgrade the standed 6 v battery to a 6.8 _ 7.3 volt system. Would someone who has done this explain the benefit of the upgrade like does it give better depth , beter sensitivity , or is it a audio thing. I am interested in doing the 7.3 v upgrade but a friend of mine said it would be a wast of time and might burn out the control box. I would really like to here from people that have done the upgrade and there results.

Thanks for the reply and it makes sence what you say , I have a 12 v battery so I will see if I can get a regulator for it ( it's not easy to find one though ) and run off a 12 v battery.

Is the little ripper the one on eBay 220 for 2 battery sys and 150 for 1 battery system.

Hi gold pick,
If you decide to go 12volt I have the Coiltek 12/7.3 volt regulator also the Coiltek 12 volt charger......original cost $250.00......I will sell for $60.00 each or $110.00 for both.
