The weekend finds
Gday all, went out with the Glen on the weekend and glen and I scored one each, i scored a tiny .15 gram nugget and glen scored a bigger bit. Glen was using the 4500 coupled with the 14" nf Advantage, i was using the 5000 coupled with my new 16" nf Advantage, we did a test comparison on the two detectors couple with the nf coils, I was not happy with the 16" coil it just didn't meet the mark on glens nugget, it should of pinged that nugget better than what it did

Re: The weekend finds
Hey Johnny, good to hear you both got some color, well done .
Would have been interesting to do the same test with your old 16" SL, or even swapped coils with Glen just to see if it was the coil.
Keeping my old 16" SL, from what I have seen it runs a lot more smoother and quiter than the 18" NFA on my 4500 (even though I prefer the 18" for coverage and depth).
Would be interesting to note the differences in settings in the two machines. I know Glens machine is a good one and super sensitive on the small stuff, it even outperforms my one with the same settings and coils by a smidgen, but not enough for me to leave any gold behind for him .

Re: The weekend finds
well done guys, i went out on the weekend aswell with my 4500, similar setups, but there was alot of ground noise indeed and it was hot once again. so i pulled the pin, just kept digging blank holes. lol good to see youz got some colour!

Re: The weekend finds
Yep Hobo and Gully Hunter, thanks for puttin up the video, it wasn't there before when I posted first.
Nice one fellas, bit of a mystery why one was getting a better responses than the other, I reckon that you have to have everything as close to the same in the settings as posible to tell whether there is much difference or not.
Anyhow thanks for sharing your video, well done.
cheers dave

With a tiny .15 gram nugget,Glen was using the 4500 coupled with the 14" nf Advantage, i was using the 5000 coupled with my new 16" nf Advantage
My experience would expect a 12% reduction in signal with an identical 16" to a 14" coil. It would be a different story with a 5+ gram bit.

Re: The weekend finds
Great job there guys. Great to watch the video and see some colour come out. My videos have alot of either brown rusty iron or lead coloured bullets, with the occasional bronze coloured shell casing. Makes me wonna go out again real soon, hopefully will all catch up for a swing...

Re: The weekend finds
Hi Ash,
SL=SuperLight. It basically refers to the Nuggetfinder coils before the Advantage series, the ones with the 4 spokes instead of the current 3.

Re-The weekend finds
Cangrats guys and great vid
Cheers mike.
P.s. did you try the same coil on both machines the bigger coil may not pick up the smaller gold as well.

Re: The weekend finds
Hi Johnny ,
Great camera work once again ... it was a good day out & the conclusion at the end of the day for this little area was to close the boom gates & search for more promising ground .
One thing we did notice with the 5000 was the better response it gave when it was taken out of fine gold & set up like the 4500 in enhance .
A question for anyone who runs big coils on the 5000 -
Does the 5000 run better in fine gold or enhance when using bigger coils ... 16" and above .
The response from Johnny`s 16" was sort of touch & go , which was quite a surprise to both of us .
Anyway a bit of colour each for the efforts & thanks for the great company Bro ...
Regards
Gully Hunter

Re: The weekend finds
The 5000 runs better in ENHANCED with bigger coils and better in FINE GOLD with smaller coils, from my limited experience waving one around some time ago.
In other words I got a better signal response using ENHANCED with the big coils 16" and 18" when I was chasing the bigger stuff then I did using FINE GOLD with these coils and same settings.

Re: The weekend finds
hi guys, ive found that if its depth that your after fine gold setting is useless, enhance is a little better but its best use is in very noisy ground, the best settings ive found for better depth is,
for mild ground,
search mode, deep or general
soil/timings, sharp
factory preset then ajust to suit for other settings,
noisy ground,
search mode, deep or general,
soil/timings, normal
factory preset then ajust to suit for other settings
if your still gettting to much ground noise then enhance is the go.
i also have ground balance in fixed,
the coils i use these settings for is the 18" comander and 24"x12" nf, hope this can help but i find the fine gold setting best for just the small coils
