Hi all thinking of Moliagol for a few days but my missus wants to go somewhere near a river so she can do some fishing. Does anyone know of any places in the Triangle that we can camp with a river but has some good detectng areas nearby. Would be much appreciated, GPS co'ords will do, no cemetries please as I've been to most of them... lol!

Hi Gold father,

Agree with Nam, Laanecoorie has a great park and also some good camping down by the bridge if you have your own amenities.

Bridgewater is another place, but you are a little drive from the gold about 15 min??

Good luck

g'day goldfather ......I agree on the Laanecoorie suggestion. You are much closer to the action for the fishing and prospecting but be prepared to travel if you are need of extra supplies including fuel. Apart from this weekend (fishing comp?) I have only noticed one old timer camped there on the river in recent times. Nice and quiet during the week if you are looking for a bit of solitude out in the bush.

Thanks Guys for all the replies, it looks like Lanncoorie has the vote, plenty of gold areas round there and the river will be a good calming effect after
a few hours detecting. Just need some luck now to walk over a piece or two
regards to all

Hi Guys got back yesterday avo from Laanecoorie very nice spot to base oneself for sure. There were some cod and yellowbelly caught by others and the spot was well patronised. Ran into a couple from Bunderburg that had been there two weeks and had a tinny and two GPX5000. They had scored on all fronts, catching yellowbelly and the lady got a couple gramers near the old American reef area. I also went there but only managed .22 lead and casings. OH well thats
the luck of the draw. Allso had poke round Tunnagulla but it seems it's been thrashed to death. Did find one piece of lead the old timers must have melted to make shot for their pistols for hunting game for tuccker, it looked like gold for all money, was heavy but the yellow ting rubbed off with a rub of the thumb.

I went early morning as by lunchtime it was too hot to do anything. Got down about 8" to one target (on the last day) but had run out of water and was starting to get delirious?
lucky I was not too far from the car which I could see where I had extra water. I left it in the ground as I was stuffed, and wanted to conserve energy to get back to the car.
All in all I still had fun and the thought of a multi onzer being still out there somewhere keeps me going. What a great hobby guys.
regards to all for your suggestions they were great.
