ROOSTER BOOSTER-FIELD TEST PAID OFF!!
My mate and I had pulled over 1oz out of this patch up Bendigo way, incl. gridding and raking. He always pulled more small bits/pieces out than me and it was frustrating me, as the only difference was his 'Rooster Booster'..sneaky bas^£*&!!..
I checked out the B&Z and mini Coiltek, but decided 'the proof is in the pudding 'so picked one up from Bendigo Gold (they apparently designed these for the GPX's?)...cost me $220, but they come w a speaker so I decided that meant they were only $170!!
Anyway back onto the patch and after 2 hours had hit 3 new targets all for gold..ended up pinging an extra 11 nuggets, the smallest at 0.025g, the largest at 1.1g at about 18" deep!
Check out my vids..filmed on my work phone so excuse the quality..I found I could turn the target volume up to 8-9, rather than 2-3 as recommended and this really helped (dug a few hot rocks, but who doesn't!).
Oh yeh and I left my harness at home, but had a backpack and this connected up to the old backpack in 5min and didn't move all weekend!!
GOOD TIMES!! why didn't someone tell me about these before??

I don't think anyone believes you? Either that or we prefer to waste money on coils, rather then U,Bute Audio signals? I know I'm dumb, not sure about the west of the audience

Re: ROOSTER BOOSTER-FIELD TEST PAID OFF!!
Rockdoc is correct. I'm using my Rooster Booster attached to my Camelbac so the whole thing is self contained to the Camelbac. The Roaster Boaster as I call them makes the whole process sooooo easy...no extra battery's to fiddle with..straight into the Minelab 5000 battery..havnt turned mine up to 8 or 9 Rockdoc but I will now try..I bet you dont do that in trashy ares?......They were designed and built and tested by real prospectors since the 5000 came out <they also work on the 4000 and 4500 but specifically designed and used on the 5000's.. so why wouldnt they work? I got mine from BendigoGold as well.....and sold my old Coiltec amp/booster on Ebay.....Hoo Roo

Gee id like to see inside of one of these new rooster boosters.
Id love to see why this booster is so much better than the rest, specifically being designed for the 5000, but will work on the others.
Anyone care to take a pic and post it up.??

Could this have been your problem before the outlay of the new booster perhaps.?.....I found I could turn the target volume up to 8-9, rather than 2-3 as recommended and this really helped.....
Re: ROOSTER BOOSTER-FIELD TEST PAID OFF!!
Narrawa, Target Volume set to 2 or 3 <back panel> is what is recommended by the prospectors that have provided the input to the designer at Bendigogold....I'm sure no one not using the Rooster Booster would be set at only 2-3....you use the volume control on the RB to set the comfortable Volume Limit particularly in trashy areas needs to be turned back on the RB...all other settings are recommended as you normally use...you can switch it off with separate on/off switch as well......very similar setup to the old Coiltec Amp/Booster made originally for the 4000 with no battery amp.. screws directly into Minelab battery <no additional battery's>..this is designed to give smooth faint signals better than just a speaker gives using the amp in the 5000 battery which did not always give the results/constant unwavering faint signals you get with the RB IMO.....I also have the normal speaker utilizing the amp in the battery and its not as good/clear/stable IMO. I dont like spending $200 odd just like any of us..but I would much prefer to spend on this rather than just another coil round about....I wont be using anything else unless really windy conditions when I will still use my TD80 headphones..I cant speak for the prospectors connected with Bendigold but I understand they arent using anything else now they've tested this on their 5000's....personally I dont mind if no-one else buys one....Lol......Hoo Roo.

Do I understand this right, You can only use an external speaker with the rooster booster? Can a person use headphones with it or not? I luv my headphones, can hear much better than external speaker. My deafness could be part of that but headphones do work better for me.
All the reports that I have read about this roosterbooster have been positive.

Re: ROOSTER BOOSTER-FIELD TEST PAID OFF!!
G'day travelergold..its either Rooster Booster or Headphones using your 5000 battery amp. The RB has its own exterior speaker you place up on harness front set up in the usual way. If you think about how its set up, you cant utilize a headphone...detector box cable screws direct to RB then dedicated included cable screws into RB and then along belt/harness to screw into Minelab battery. Headphone battery port remains unused. Hoo Roo.
PS. in anticipation of someones question whether you could carry headphones and do a switcharooey...the detector cable would have to be screwed direct to battery in the usual way thereby completely by- passing the RB....but why would you carry both?...

Good business practice is to use what your selling.I cant speak for the prospectors connected with Bendigold but I understand they arent using anything else now they've tested this on their 5000's....
If you set the TV too low, is any booster able to boost audio thats not present.??
Meaning, is it just a simple amp that amplifies what it hears, but does not reach into the abyss and pull out audio thats not present? or is it a processor of some sort that has the ability to calm the background hiss and reach though the hash and pull from the reaches a signal. ?
The supplied booster in the batt of the GPX models is just a simple amp with little output, but it works off the information given to it by the detector, you tell the detector to lower its TV and thats the end result to your speakers mounted on your shoulder.
You can add as many amps as you like to that, but the end result is the same.
Trying to amplify the audio from the detector thats been turned way down results in what being amplified.?? A bout the same as turning up the volume on music system with nothing playing.
Getting back to the volume limit set by the booster, would it not be more beneficial to have the TV on the detector set high, and lower it from the comfort of you RB or whatever your flavor booster?
I use a range of boosters from the B&Z to homemade units to the std batt booster on the 4500 battery. All with the same result when using the TV on 20, and limiting the comfort level by the volume control where applicable.
I could be totally wrong in my line of thinking, and have been many times with various stuff, and im all for new and improved accessories if they work as well as they've been talk up to....which is rare.
Re: ROOSTER BOOSTER-FIELD TEST PAID OFF!!
I'm comfortable backing what you've just said their Narrawa.I'ts like listening to your detector through a pair of volume controled headphones. The smoothest, sharpest and clearest sound response will be heard through your headphones when your 4500s internally regulated volume is boosted to the max.See what happens when the reverse applies, you'll find yourself receiving more hiss and resonating machine electronics distortion, coming through the headphones and not clarity of sound. You can't pull any extra depth by applying any amp booster .All they do is amplify sound. The better the filtering of the amplification the clearer the quality of sound will be,making it possible to hear and separate those faint positive ground signals from the surrounding ground noise.
Cheers guys kon61.

Re: ROOSTER BOOSTER-FIELD TEST PAID OFF!!
Narrawa, why not ring Kim or David at Bendigogold and put your hypothisis .....were involved with testing, they make them there, use nothing else now..I only know what I know from my own experience and I've had Dual speaker without Amp,Coiltec amp/booster and now this Rooster Booster all exteriors on my 5000 and I know what I'm going to use until something better comes along. You sound like you've already got all the gizmos so dont fret over this one.
I was one of the first raised the issue of the Garrett Pointer affecting/interfering with theGPX5000 and was immediately poo pooed by Nero and Co that it was just mine, there's were fine..well......time has now shown that most do indeed interfere unless sheathed or modded by folk like Mechanic who worked out why. The poo pooing of course was based on Commercial reasons by those involved in selling them...I only know what I know..I dont sell Rooster Boosters or Garrett Pointers I only use them...have you used a Rooster Booster or even seen one in use...until then your comments remain mere hypothisis....Hoo Roo......

Re: ROOSTER BOOSTER-FIELD TEST PAID OFF!!
Larr303, im not fretting mate, in a round a bouts way i asked if this new RB thingy was a simple booster, or did it have some special powers that were not fully known by the few posts about it here.?
I have nothing against marketing old gismos with a new face , its been done for years but it sounded different so i felt compelled to questioned it.
Not meaning to knock the manufacture or retailer for selling products they feel are top gear. All retailers sell top gear, just ask anyone of them.
Well done on the pin pointer topic, and Mechanic for helping out a fellow operator with his skill......a valuable contributor to the hobby and forums.
To answer your question, no iv not seen nor used one, do i need to?....or would i get the same effect by just upping the TV.?

Jezz 'Someday', bit harsh mate!
Just sharing my experience with the RB. I'm sure different coils would be better, but this is something that seems to work for me and over the weekend my hearing is still ringing from the RB-only got 1 piece, lots of rubbish and High wind up Bendigo
..I'm having trouble posting the video from my first entry (is there any way to do this without having to UTUBE it?) here's some of the gold from 2 weekends I've pick up with the RB connected..as I said it works for me and since I have nothing to compare it to...well each there own

Re: ROOSTER BOOSTER-FIELD TEST PAID OFF!!
Oh yeh and the RB speaker has a different plug than the normal speakers (which fit into the GPX batteries)..that way if the speaker blows up, your back to Bendigo gold for a new one...and you obv. can't use the RB speaker with any other booster/battery-

Hi ROCKDOC69,
I bought a RB this week and I found it fantastic, the signal is very loud and clear, I went back in places that I already detect in the past and target keep on coming up.
After spending $6300 for a GPX 5000 an extra $ 220 does not make much difference, I am very happy that David suggested the RB, because really make a big difference for me.
I forgot to mention that fortunately did not need hearing aids, just yet, and have no connections whatsoever in the sale of this RB.
Cheers

Re: ROOSTER BOOSTER-FIELD TEST PAID OFF!!
G`day ,
A mate of mine Brian aka The smiling assasin uses this particular booster & finds it very helpful - mind you he does wear 2 hearing aids as well . So when he does pick out a signal ... man does it BARK !!!
To give you an example of his hearing impairment he has found 51 nuggets for 63 grams . Doesnt find many sub grammers at all ... he is hoping the RB will improve this .
My thoughts are he is doing just fine at the moment - just look at the numbers - as long as he doesnt get hooked on the sub grammers using the rooster booster .
He has been through 2 of these units so far ... the first one failed while we were swinging in the Maryborough region - something in the actual booster unit didnt work .
The second one failed due to a faulty speaker outlet , again while we were out in the Maryborough region.
He had to use my spare speaker which plugged straight back into the GPX amplified battery...
Now i couldnt understand why the RB had a different jack plug - not compatible with the GPX jack .. Made that perfectly good speaker " useless " for any thing else IMO ...
Anyway Bendigo Gold exchanged the units with no hassles and the old fella has not had any issues to date . Third time lucky i guess ...
I dont use any additional boosters at the moment ... cant justify getting one just yet , seem to do alright with the amplified GPX battery ...
Regards
