Re: Cleaning Gold - Aldi Ultrasonic Cleaner
Thanks for posting that I was looking at the Jaycar one but it is $70.
Have a look at this review of the Aldi Unit.
They use it to clean bullet casings. They add a squirt of dishwashing liquid as per the manuals instructions but also add 1tsp Cream of Tartar to the water in the unit.

Re: Cleaning Gold - Aldi Ultrasonic Cleaner
Word of warning dont put anything made of aluminium into an ultrasonic cleaner.
They use this to test the effectiveness of the cleaner as it will break down the aluminium.
Here is an example of the test being carried out using aluminium foil:

Ultrasonic Cleaner from Aldi
Tha Aldi Ultrasonic cleaner is a small light duty cleaner and I would not even try to use it to remove quartz or ironstone from gold as a first step in the cleaning process. I bought it mainly for cleaning old coins.
It may be useful as a final clean of nuggets after first using acid as described in other posts on this forum such as https://golddetecting.forumotion.net/t1309-cleaning-nuggets
