Fisher Gold Bug PRO DP
Gday all,
I hope your all doing well!
As you may notice, I'm brand spankin new here (and from the Goulburn, NSW corner).
After seeing this community and how supportive it is, I decided to join up and try contribute to this great hobby. That being said, I am yet to contribute as I need a detector first
Decided on the "Fisher Gold Bug PRO DP" which I ordered from the U.S. It comes with a Free Bonus Pack of goodies namely; Teknetics Pick and Fisher Earphones.
Hopefully I made the right choice!
EDIT:
I will be mostly Doing Gold Detecting.

It cleared Australian customs on Friday the 13th, so it should be delivered Mon or Tues.
I will try Hill End first and see what happens.
Will be sure to leave some feedback on my experience with it here for you

Re: Fisher Gold Bug PRO DP
Big Nugget, when your at Hill End, head to Tambaroora.
Using the 11" semi elip coil, switch the detector to discriminate mode after GBing, set discriminator to 40, set the gain to about 50-70, dig only the high tones. Adjust gain and discriminator as needed.
This is silent searching and dig the smallest sounding high tones especially.
Using the all metal mode i found the threshold very hard to listen to being the user of a GPX 4500, and becoming accustom to it over time.
If this is your first detector then you wont suffer this, however i found the threshold of the bug not all that steady, unpleasant really, but you can opt for no thresh while also being in all metal mode which will up the sensitivity a little not using it in discriminate mode.
The ground up there can change within a few meters so keep an eye on your Gb.
The road into the old cemetery should be your first port of call with that detector. Dont be afraid to detect on it, just fill in your holes and keep off the lease that you'll come to just past the cemetery it self.
Good luck they are a top little machine.

Fantastic, thanks Narrawa!
I will give it a go. Will be sure to report back my experiences.
A correction to my headphones listed in the original post of mine above. I am actually now getting the "Nugget Buster" Earphones (Yellow in colour). They retail at USD$90.00 or so.

Re: Fisher Gold Bug PRO DP
Good luck mate. I too found that in the area that went the All Metal mode ran noisy. I then switched to disc and as mentioned above ran it in a very similar pattern. I didn't find any gold but had a ball on the relics. It's one of my top detectors and that's why I've held onto it here to use.
