Metal Free Boots
I was recomened Oliver Steel free Boots about 5 years ago,They nearly stuffed my feet, had terrible pain in my instep ,Took me 3 to 4 years to come good after getting rid of the olivers,I know everyone is different and what suits one may not suit the next, but if you start getting pains in your feet throw them out(i am glad i did).

Re: Metal free boots
GDay
I am with you on the Redbacks Kon, this would be the fourth season I have worn mine and I have also used them sometimes for work as well, the ones I have are the "ubok", all leather, elastic sides, no steel at all.
They are just about knackered but are so comfortable I am loathe to part with them, but the soles are starting to get a bit thin so nearly time to replace them for the bush work, but I can still use them about the yard for gardening, after having them and trying other types earlier on I wouldnt buy anything else now.
It really depends on your feet what suits you the best, but when you find something that does not give you any problems you just have to stick with them, it is assential that you wear good boots while detecting as damage to your feet or ankles could easily ruin a trip, or at the very least make things uncomfortable for you.
cheers

G'day guys.
Spot on stayyer and right you are Goldstalker. In this game your feet are everything considering they traverse endless klms in the most harshest conditions, so it pays to look after them. What price can one put on ones feet,if you're walking around all day sweating it out and uncomfortable because the shoes you're wearing don't match the job conditions.
Cheers kon61.

Re: Metal free boots
Sounds like there's a few good options in regards to footwear, but, what if your feet have been re-contructed with metal.
I can test the unit by running it past my left ankle, which has about twenty pieces of metal in it. I'm not experienced enough to know if this will be a serious problem, but, I did get a little 2.3G piece of glory first time out at the triangle.
It seems O.K. with a hire 5000 and factory settings, but, I'm a little worried that there may be more precise settings that may interfere.
Does anyone have any experience with this?

metal free boots
Hi, I wear a pair of Mack dingo(about $190), they have a composite toe in them and take a real flogging. I would like a cent for every rock that I kicked out the way to get the coil lower. My wife wears a brand called northwest teritory (about $55-60)(mens or lady's boot) They only go to size 12 and were a bit tight on my foot
Just thought I would mention this as when we are both on the tall side is hard to keep coil away from shoes and you need to be comfortable when walking the terrain that we trak in the search of the elusive nugget.
Both are metal free and very well constructed.
Cheers travelergold

Just ordered myself a pair of "metal free" Oliver boots. As I have to wear safety boots all the time, this is the best and most comfortable boots I have ever had. Oliver brought out this "metal free" boots which will take a lot of hassle away for the people who does fly-in and fly-out. You don't have to take off your boots at the airport anymore!
This is the "Rolex" when it comes to comfort, especially when spending a whole day on your feet detecting.

Hope the link works!
The wheather is changing. Today only 25 deg max for Kalgoorlie!
The season is upon us.
See ya out there!
Kudu
Just curious --- I followed the link through and the Olivers appear to have metal lace points -- do you find that interferes with your detecting. ? They look like comfy boots!

Re: Metal free boots
crazy legs, seem you dont need to carry a test nugget then!
as for me, i love redbacks also. Im in workboots all day at work. We have inside boots (mongrel... and thats the brand as well as how they feel on your feet ) and outside boots, well had blunstone but now have redbacks which are much better.
So i bought redbacks, steel free, and never get tired feet trodding the bush. Love them.

Re: Metal free boots
Have tried Blundstone elastic sided however they were too narrow, have settled with Rossi, no metal and very comfy.
Have heard about the Redbacks but am walking with something tried and proven.
Cheers

Re: Metal free boots
I’m with you Peter, worn Rossi metal free for years.
Self moulding innersole, conforms to your foot shape, and solid
giggle boot elastic sides, easy on easy off.
One problem is the distinctive tread pattern; everyone knows where I have been.

Non metallic boots (sorry this is a bit late)
If your looking for a tough Non metallic boot with major ankle support then head to http://www.legear.com.au/Converse-Boots-Tactical-Boots-Safety-Boots-Australia-NZ-s/297.htm
Because if your like me then you’d last 10sec on the banks of the Macquarie in Red backs or Hiking boots.
Also Danner make a 100% non metallic boot on that same web site.
Yes I know the price is rather steep but so is a month off work with a broken ankle.
Hope this helps someone
Cheers Hoff

Re: Metal free boots
Redback make a lace-up boot that only has metal eyelets.
Take the eyelets off and no metal. My wife uses them as she
broke an ankle a while back and wants the extra support.
She has a heap of metal in the ankle but it doesn't beep.

Have been using Redback lase up boots for years ,just drill out eyelets as AlanWA said his wife had done. These are the best boots for comfort & long ware that support the ankle.

Re: Metal free boots
Got a pair of Oliver ST's.
They're capped safety boots (free issue for work) but absolutely no metal.
Had them for a few months now and tho the fit is a bit disappointing, my feet are getting used to them.

Re: Metal free boots
Now this going to sound totally messed up. How can a 4500 get a signal from a pair of boots made from leather & synthetic materials. They were elastic sided pull ons and did not have steel caps or steel reinforced soles. They were my boots and no kidding, the 4500 got a signal off them. It's got me beat, but I was just about to grab the 4500 and smash it. Wasn't my detector.

Re: Metal free boots
Redbacks all the way. They seem to last forever, wear in quickly and don't disturb the coil. Not bad for around the $65 mark. The ones designed spec for prospecting are way over priced for me.

Re: Metal Free Boots.
Always take your detector with you when you are buying prospecting boots.......I spoke to a boot manufacturer who told me that they can never guarantee whether or not boot soles will have spring steel in the soles.....................it depends which manufacturer makes the soles for them !!!
