Doesn't suprise me. If you talk to Kelvin who is the local minelab trainer he never had anything nice to say about them, and their prices could be found cheaper elsewhere.

I'm sure they are talking it up. I'm sure it's as simple as their lease had expired and the caravan park no longer wished to renew their lease.

There are two sides to every story and it sounds like their side is they are playing the blame game on the caravan park.

I've been there 2 times since Andrew took over and found him very helpful & honest to deal with. Is someone else going to take the shop on. ??
As for the caravan park, last year it was a disgrace - toilets & showers not cleaned properly. Even when the park was full, they still kept 1 toilet block closed. The office said they were going to modernise but i think pigs will fly before that happens. Also was threatened by the people running the truck repair shed next door because i told them to remove their roosters from the park (crowing under caravans all night) - management did not want to know & most campers whinged but not game to make official complaint.

Who owns the Clermont caravan park. Is it privately run or council?
Think you will find alot of caravan parks are out of date and a disgrace. Come and take a look at Meeka's , I would not allow my dog to stay on that one, especially because the security is non existant (and when you take a drive through Meeka you will see what I mean).
Cue is another very much outdated caravan park, the toilet blocks seem to of come from the second world war. Apparently this park has been in the "process" of an update for the past 4 years but nothing yet happening. Seeing as this is a council owned park you would think they would update the facilities a bit better than what they have.

It's good to see Andrew moving into new premises, as Clermont needs a detector shop to service all the gold prospectors that pass through there all year long. With the caravan park I think it's up to par, power, dunnies, roomy showers, and some good blokes to talk to. The Rooster was a good alarm clock and the bloke that runs the park was friendly to deal with, all up life go's on. Be happy, Queensland gold prospectors need Clermonts GPA's we don't have the luxury of prospecting our state forests, thats left for the loggers and giant mining companies who pay big fat royalty cheques to the Bligh Government.

CLERMONT DETECTORS ASKED TO LEAVE THE PARK Empty RE: Clermont Detectors asked to leave the park.

Just an update on the Cue Tourist Park. The upgrade to the Cue park is in full swing. It had been delayed due to some unforseen problems, which needed to be carefully sorted out. The Council is aware of the outdated current ablutions, and wanted to ensure that what replaced them, was of a much higher standard. They are being built as we speak. And they, and the new extended caravan sites will be complete before the next tourist season. The council also decided to hold off on building the new ablutions to stop disruption to the last detecting season clients. When the Park is pretty much at capacity for 4-5 months solid. So for anyone travelling this way next year, you will see a huge improvement.
Cheers, Shell.
P.S. sorry to hijack the post but thought it important to get the message out there for future travellers. Smile

That is great to hear Shell. I was there for a week back in June and was very disappointed with what I saw. Good to see the council has finally sorted things out and that the upgrade is underway. I realise you and you hubby (I assume you are the caretakers of this park) were not responsible for the condition of the amenities as you can only do your best with what you had.
Will be good to see the result next time I am up there, which will be next year.

You gotta be kidding about the rooster - how is 3 & 4 am good ?? he's lucky i didn't have a shotgun. Mad
Fair enough about the amenities if they charged less, but with some crappy parks, people too scared to speak up so nothing changes. Clermont park is owned by council but leased out.

Regarding the Clermont CV Park

We spent 10 days in the Clermont Caravan park 26/08/11 to 05/09/11 and found it quiet good, amenities were kept clean and the managers very friendly and helpful.
Renewed my fossickers licence and bought the kit from Clermont Detectors.

Generally all the people that we met in the park were most friendly and helpful

We do recommend it and will be returning next year

Good to hear that Scrubhen, - must have improved since last year. The folks around town were always friendly & the Chinese meals in the Grand Hotel are just fantastic.

CLERMONT DETECTORS ASKED TO LEAVE THE PARK Empty Re: CLERMONT DETECTORS ASKED TO LEAVE THE PARK

Post  granite2 Mon Oct 24, 2011 10:18 am

When Barry was in the caravan park I thought it wasn't the appropriate place for a detector shop. It was good for Barry's business but still not appropriate, I have never seen another caravan park with a shop in it not connected to directly to the park, and I have seen many, many caravan parks.

I must say I have heard some very unpleasant rumours about some local people wishing to drive Andrew out of business and if this is a result of their efforts they should be ashamed of themselves.

I wish Andrew all the best in his new location, I think he will do just as well outside the park. He and his daughter seem to be very personable and pleasant to deal with. Clermont is a good location for a detector shop as I spent some very enjoyable hours detecting around Clermont and the GPA's when we lived in Prosperpine.

Cheers, Jim
