Discriminator on GP Extreme

Did my searching but I couldn't find anything. On my last trip, the discriminator on both machines did not work (I usually have mine turned off anyway).
Is it possible, that depending on the type of ground being walked, the discrim on the Extreme won't work ?

I've never heard of any probs with the discriminators on any of the minelabs,only reason it may not work would be on mono setting,using a mono coil,setting too low or perhaps an aftermarket coil thats not fully compatible with the discriminator.Are the discriminators working in air tests at the site you are detecting at least this would eliminate the setup.

was using mono coils and now that I think about it, did have some of the settings a bit low. As I say, I prefer to have the discrim off but John (tinman17) prefers to have it on and it was his machine having the problem.
the discrim has always worked in the past so I'll put it down to user error.

Excuse me if I'm wrong Bullet, but I'm pretty sure (maybe even 100% sure) the discriminate wont work with mono coils, only DDs. Maybe in the past you had DDs and that's why it worked, but now that you're running the monos, it wont work....

that answers a lot, when tinman was using the DD there was no problems but when I gave him the 14x9 mono he said the discrim didn't work. geez I learn something new all the time.
Sending both extremes to minelab for a check up but now I know why.
