Favorite Coils that you have used.
What have been your favorite coils that you have used since you have been detecting. These may have been coils used on SD/GP machines.
Mine are:
Minelab 8" mono - before the GPX machines came out I used this coil and found so much small gold. Very sensitive but great depth.
Coiltek 11" round mono - Always have loved this coil, quiet, sensitive and bulletproof. Went back to this coil with my 4500 and did well.
Nugget Finder 14" DD elip - On my Extreme and 3000 this coil was great in hot areas and was pretty light as well.

Re: Favorite Coils that you have used.
My most successful coil was the 14x9NFA.Previous to that on the older machines was the Coiltek 14DD round.

Re: Favorite Coils that you have used.
On the SDs the coil we used most was the Coiltek 14" round DD. We found heaps of gold with this coil from sub grammers to my biggest nugget of 6oz.
Our favourite coil of the moment is the 14x9 CT mono. We have used the same ones since they came out and have found approximately 54 oz with them.
Cheers, Jim

Re: Favorite Coils that you have used.
If I could only ever have one coil, it would be the 12"x7" Solid Nugget Finder Advantage mono. I have found hundreds of nuggets with it - from sunbakers to 20" down. I have worn out three skid plates, which at the moment, seem to be out of stock nationwide (maybe they are made from unobtanium !).

Re: Favorite Coils that you have used.
So many coils to choose from
Having owned a large range of both Nugget Finders and Coiltek,I suppose a few factors need to be taken into consideration.
The most user friendly coil I have ever used was the Coiltek 10" Elliptical mono.
Easy to ground balance, hardly ever falses when banged against timber/rocks.
Fits into the smallest of crevices and has great depth for its size.
Stows well in the backpack when your detecting new areas with a bigger coil and cleans up the smallest bits on the patch.
No wonder they havent changed the design in so long......

I have a 16" Nuggetfinder Advantage that is welded on to my ML4500. I find it to be a great allround coil and was very happy with the performance of the combination earlier in the year in the West, finding nuggets from .2gr upwards.

favorite coils
my favourite coil would have to be a coiltek 6" or a commander 8"on my 4500 as they are super sensitive on the littlies and the biggies as well al

Re: Favorite Coils that you have used.
On the 2100 the ML Kevlar 18" was the one , and it still works well on the 5000
-- GP Extream my pic was the 16" NF SL ,
-- GPX 5000 the ML Commander 15 x 12 Mono is good for gridding ,but i am still trying to find a patchfinding coil for it that I am happy with .
The 16" NF SL is OK , but a little touch sensitive on sticks and bushes . If my 17" NF still has this problem when it is returned from NF , the old 18" Kevlar might be "it" again .

Re: Favorite Coils that you have used.
Mine was my 12 round NFA it was superb till it died, It,s replacement a 14x9 NFA is almost in the same league but not quite,
I am frustrated with my 16 NFA its a pain pinpointing but a good search coil.

Re: Favorite Coils that you have used.
Gday Jig
Glad to hear that you are impressed the 12x7 solid nuggetfinder advantage coil, I recently bought one for use in the spinifex country on my 4500, and have used it the one time only for a couple of hours, found a few pieces the biggest at 1.5 grams, small lead shots squeal like a stuck pig, I always get these with the 11"mono but the signal is much sharper with the 12x7.
On the 4500 three coils I have used the most are the nuggetfinder 14" advantage mono, 11" minelab commander mono, and minelab 8" mono.
Also recently purchased a nuggetfinder 17" advantage eliptical mono, I have not use it as yet and will be giving it a workout next week, I have heard good things about this coil and was hoping it would be a good allround lightweight patch hunting coil.
cheers

Re: Favorite Coils that you have used.
My favorite coils are the Coiltek 18 round mono. I think it is the maximum size to swing all day, get great depth and it seems to handle interference or ground noise in the SExtra setting at a level that will not drive you crazy. I like the NF 12 round advantage mono for small stuff and it will get some deep hits. For when i need to cover lots of ground looking for a run i use an CT GS 18 elip mono. I have done well with these coils so its probably why i like them best.
