Anyone on here predate that?

Re: WA Miners Rights
Thats good to hear Panther, and even better that they can still find the record of it, they do say it is a lifetime one, and I reckon that makes it good value.
Mine is still new (2009) in comparison to yours then.
cheers dave

Re: WA Miners Rights
Dave, I thought it was great that they had it on computer. I emailed them and 10 minutes later got a reply. I thought everyone would have gone home for the weekend but forgot about the time zone so was real surprised to hear straight away. There were very few computers around in those days and I am sure they wouldn't have had one then.

Re: WA Miners Rights
I'm going to WA next year, I cant find a site where you can buy the miners right online (via visa), the only one I can find is that you post with a cheque

Not suprised Axeman, more like pleased, I reckon that its a good idea.
Hobo I think you have to be there in person or do it like you say by cheque. We went to the Kalgoorlie office when we got over there, besides you won't need it before you get there.

Re: WA Miners Rights
I'm not sure about a cheque or the net option but I got mine in Kal when I was there some years ago. When you do get it, do what I did and leminate it. I end up in more creeks and waterholes than I care to admit. I'll have a look at the WA mines website.

Re: WA Miners Rights
Hi there
Just send a cheque and application by post they will post out your miners right within a couple of weeks
but if you need one rapid style then call the WA mines dept and you will be able to pay for one on the telephone via credit card and they will give you your miners right number there and then.
You will receive the paper copy via post
Kind regards
Mick

Re: WA Miners Rights
Gday
Their record keeping is not that good, I got my first miners right in 1978, and after moving house a few times over the years I lost it, when I applied for a copy they told me that there was no record of me ever having one????, so after the usual questions and blank stares I decided to just apply for a new one, it was easier.

Re: WA Miners Rights
Hi everyone;
It might be a good idea to keep across possible changes which may affect your “Permanent” WA Miners Right.
In November 2010 APLA advised that the following changes could soon be made.
The following is a quote direct from their November 2010 Datum Post.
The Bill amendment to provide for:
Quote
(a) permanent preservation of all “lifetime” Miners Rights provided personal details are submitted within 12 months,
(b) the “automatic” cancellation of Miners Rights if above details are not submitted.
(c) a 5 year (renewable) term of Miners Rights (must be renewed before expiry),
(d) Miners Rights holders must notify of any changes in mailing address,
(e) Impose appropriate penalties for breaches of provisions under section 20,
(f) the penalties being limited to suspensions of Miners Right and/or fines.
End Quote
I was in Leonora during August and September of this year and the local Mines Department office was aware of these proposed changes but were not sure when or if they would be implemented.
It would be a shame to lose your lifetime Miners Right if you weren’t aware that the changes had come into effect.
I am sure APLA would warn us.

Re: WA Miners Rights
Great to see some old diehards still out there. Can't say I saw any of you out in the field. I guess we were still a rare bunch back then? Maybe we should have an old farts club! When the Mines guy emailed me he didn't say anything about changes and told me it was still active. I did give him my new address. Like a few others, 30 years has taken it's toll and numerous house moves and a divorce 10 years ago and 3 moves since then, it is hard to track where my MR went. Maybe my X has it in her revenge bag. I did get to keep my gold though.
Thanks for the responses guys. Maybe a beer one day as I definitely intend getting back that way in the future. My fav place back then? I guess Ora Banda, Menzies and a few other spots but I know I would have to go much further afield now.

Re: WA Miners Rights
got mine in 1994 but lost it. The Dept of Mines & Petroleum wouldn't issue a new one but they did give me a letter stating I hold a miners right, date of issue and the registration number, and it is valid for life of the holder.

Hi Panther,
it took about a week from the time I asked for a new one until I got the letter. Best to Contact them ahead of getting over here.

Re: WA Miners Rights
Just called the Mines Dept, scrat is correct that there has been talk about changes but they tell me at this point in time, the MR is still valid for life. I guess it depends who you talk to at the Dept and their version of information, but they seem to think it won't affect people who are already holders of an MR. Knowing the WA government, they'll think of some way of getting more money out of people, like annual renewal fees. Sit back and wait I guess and see what happens.

We also asked if we could up date our details for our Miners Right at their office this year when over in WA, they had no idea what we were talking about and had no provisoin for doing so.
