North of Laverton WA
G'day All,
I'm hopefully doing a trip at the end of the month. Anyone been up there lately. How up to date is google earth when it comes to what mining has been going on. Are there any new big holes in the ground around corktree well area and up to 30kms further north.
cheers

Re: North of Laverton WA
hey mate cant help you with laverton
but a little trick on google earth is on the tool bar at the top of the screen is a wee icon of a clock with a green arrow going round in a circle.... click on that and a slider thingy will pop up showing the date of the imageing.
if you slide the slider you can look back at the older images as well. handy if you are looking for a old track thats now overgown or something
cheers

Thanks Kiwi, I never knew about that clock. Appears the last images were done in January 2008 if I'm lookin at it right. I haven't been up there since 1994, I think I'm in for a surprise or 2.
Cheers

Phoned the Laverton Shire Office on Thursday 8 Sept 2011. The general store is still closed, some food stuffs are available from the caravan park and the one and only service station. Fuel is available. forgot to ask if the Pub was open.

Diesel two weeks ago was $1.64, food prices expensive but not much variety. There is also a Deli with some groceries and take away. Needed to send a sympathy card... no such thing in Laverton. MacRob

G'day MacRob,
Sounds like you must have been up there, what's it like. Lots of detectorists ? as long as we can get unleaded fuel, we'll be ok.

Mate, doubt if you will have any trouble with unleaded, the Caravan park was very busy most days, strangely though you dont see too many out in the bush but no doubt they`re out there. Goodluck, MacRob
