No mate, thats it! Thats what you have to pay. But, believe me, that is probably the best $120 investment you can make towards this hobby, that's for sure!

Re: Oziexplorer
Agree with Kudu, for the $120 you never pay again for any upgrade or anything, it would still be cheap at twice the price.
Price some of the other mapping programs out there, then compare the features of them all. You will be pleasantly surprised with Ozi at the end of the day.
If you have been playing with the demo version, which is very limited, you will be very happy with the full program.

Re: Oziexplorer
How much detail do these maps show ? At what scale do they allow you to scale in on. Also can Google Maps/Tengraph maps be overlayed onto them ? I am reading up now, but thought it was relevant. Thanks

Hi Austacker
As your'e in WA you will need WA maps to download onto Oziexp. Oziexplore is only the software. You need maps to go with it. You can download Topo or Geo maps onto ozie. Most people use Greg Harewood's Gold & Ghosts maps. (no association with G&Gohsts books from David de Havelland). You can buy them in CD format for about $40 at any prospecting shop. The maps is already ozie-ready and you just insert the CD into your PC/laptop and there you go! The maps are aslo 1:100 000 scale which contain much more info than the 1;250 000.
Topo maps can also be downlowded. You just need to buy or get them from a friend and then have to download them.
Any other maps can also be downloaded. Mudmaps can be scanned and downloaded, but then it gets a bit complicated (not difficult) as it has to be calibrated first. Just follow the Help pages in Oziexpl.
Geological maps (G&G) is all that I ( and most of the people I know) use! There is a lot of information on Oziexpl on this forum!!!
Hope it helps.

Thanks heaps Kudo
I will have a look at Oziexpl and I am currently looking at the Magellan software "Vantage Point" it is free and has a good satellite overlay, and it allows me the import .kmz files. Just keeps crashing atm. I have been able to get a lot of data from the mines dept on tenements etc... and have successfully put these into Google Earth all of them. I can then select a few where we are going and transfer those as an individual file to Google maps, this then overlays nicely onto Google maps as a tenement, perfect. However here is where I get let down, it needs to be a .kml file (I believe)so I can import it into the GPS software.
I have no brand preference, but I want software that is pretty usable. Does oziexpl allow you to do this ?
Thanks

I say again...... Ozie is the way to go! Google earth and all the rest you can use in conjunction with Ozie and visa versa. Ozie allows you to transfer to GE if you want to. From ozie you can also import from GE!

Re: Oziexplorer
I have pretty much all of them, but to be honest I think the best out there at the moment is VMS running on an iPad....... Works great , an you can buy maps directly from the mud map shop and VMS can be purchased in the app store

Re: Oziexplorer
hey harb,
do you use an external gps reciever for the ipad? if so how accurate is it?
or do you just use it for your map editing
