Keyless entry 98 Kia Sportage 4x4
G'Day All
Hoping someone can help,Sometimes (most times) the remote won't open the door locks so have to open manually then enter code to start engine but still doesn't always work and yes i did fit new batteries to two remotes, Apparently this is a common problem and still i can't find an answer so i will be gratefull if someone can help with a solution or information how to disconect the engine immobiliser (wifes car i've still got my Patrol) thanks again.

Hi Big fella, Quick fix, trade it in. With all the new electronic gear now running / controlling vehicles it becomes a real nightmare when things go wrong, and inevitably they will. When you are in the middle of no where. Hope some one can help you.

Bring back the good old days! I'd say you won't have much option, take it to a Kia dealer! I wouldn't go to any joe blow, lots of $$ can be spent with no outcome?
Just an idea, have you tried holding the remote to your mobile phone while it is on! Don't laugh, it increases remote to car 3 fold in distance.
Cheers Chris.

Re: Keyless entry 98 Kia Sportage 4x4
Hi Tom
Had one of these with a similar issue, the ignition is enabled in the ecu via a relay on the printed circuit board difficult job.Best to replace the remote or they can be fixed and yes putting the remote to your temple extends the distance by a fair amount I,ve tested it.
