Re: What sort of coil for the area of:
That would be an open ended answer to that question.
Bit like asking what is the better model Holden to drive on Sealed roads.
Depends on ground mineralization, ground to be covered, flat, open, shrubby etc
No definite coil type needs to be used, but use your coil to its potential.
Use a large coil to cover more ground, use a small coil to cover smaller area's with more concentrated effort on deeper targets.
Consider also the shape, as round coils detect deaper, but elliptical are more user friendly and get better siganl strength out from the perimeter. (See image)
I just wish i was a local to Chewton and Whipstick area's, i'd know every blade of grass and twig location by now. Not to mention have cleaned the area of yellow too !

Hi Corey
The diagrams you have posted is the way I used to think of coils. But the fields shown are not accurate.A 11 Mono will recognise a 35 ounce nugget at a depth of 24 to 26 inches.See post small powerfull monos
Cheers Dig
Ps A tip for anyone having a bad run.If you are running 14'' coils or more coilback.Put on a 11dd or 11mono.They are very powerfull coils and very sensitive.then detect in awkward spots Next to trees under bushes ,Mix it up do the opposite of what you normally do.
Cheers
