Turbopan v Md Marks speed pan
Hi all,
Just got back from three great days sluicing up at hillend with dave &paula
some nice gold was found by all thanks guys it was great.
Tryed two pans out this weekend the turbopan&the md marks speed pan..
The Turbopan works well enough as the spirals makeup three quaters ofthe pan break down any compaction and the anticlockwise
motion forces any gold into the gold trap in the centre of the pan and the rubbish dirt and pebbles are
shot out the sides of the pan.To pan off one pan of dirt say 4kg it took me 3-4 minutes but the only problem
i had with this pan is that you get all the left over dirt and black sand and gold in the gold trap you still have to
revert back to using the same method to get at the gold as an old black plastic pan..
The MD Marks speed pan this pan with it's spirals that takeup the whole of the pan works on the same
method as the turbopan the anticlockwise motion and lives up to it's name it is the quickest pan that i've used
the same amount of dirt as above and the pan off was finshed in about 30 seconds and the only method that was used
was the anticlockwise motion all the way and your left with a little black sand and gold this pan is costly but if it gets the
gold it's worth it....

Ps Iwill endevour to put some pics up.....

gold rocs,
Mate thanks for the report it was interesting to see the difference between the two pans. What was the weight like in the two pans able to be handled or controlled without much difficulty?
cheers

Turbopan v Md Marks
Hey james.
The leaflet that came with the turbopan said that it would take up to 8kg of dirt that could be true
as the lip on the pan is 30mm high but puting that amount in the pan i did not do it just sounded a bit
much, mostly used it for washup and general panning 4kg i think is enough for the pro&learner
The md marks pan has a lip of about 3mm and is dish shaped, great for washup and general panning
will take just as much as the turbo the speed pan is great pan to learn on....

James
On a serious note the marks pan is a little heavier but when it only takes less than a minute to pan of a full dish who cares...no sore back or arms and can do a lot of pans in an hour....I have used the speed pan for about a year now and once you get the vortex going right it gets easier....I use water to take the weight of the dirt and pan all you have to do is control the water in the pan....like goldrocs said a little pricey but well worth the money....the misses used one this weekend and found it quite easy to use except the water was a little too cold for her

Re: Turbopan v Md Marks speed pan
Guys it’s good to get a straight up and down report without all the BS. I have never used either type of pan and have no idea on their operation and the retention of gold from either pan. To get an honest report has given people like myself a good idea on just how good the pans are. Thanks
