l'm thinking of getting a Garretts Deepseeker ADS second hand for metal detecting in the victorian goldfields, is this detector any good or am l better off getting a more expensive one

They were good in their day. To be honest I took my Garrett,Whites goldmaster1, and my wife Whites 6000 to the tip this year. I would suggest you look at something made post 1995

Thanks yes l thought it looked a bit out of date, With up to $1,000 to spend what would be good second hand or new metal detectors for gold prospecting, l was looking at ebay before.

A Minelab SD2000 with a bit of luck from eBay or you can call Coiltek in Maryborough and see if one has been traded in, usually charge $800.

It was the first of the PI detectors Minelab released, go a lot deeper than VLF detectors and easy to learn how to operate.
