Question for all, Can you detect when the ground is wet?
Some say, they don't even bother as it gives out false signals.
If true, how long should you wait?
Does the ground have to be completely dry before you can start detecting again?

The other question is can you still use a vlf when wet.

yes you can march, and if conditions are right the ground could be actually quieter and easy to dig. In some places I have gotten false signals due to the top couple of inches of dirt being dry while underneath this layer totally soaked in water and generally find this happens more as the day goes on and the ground heats up. If we had to wait for the ground to dry up after the wet weather we have been having lately and Winter around the corner, hell it would be Spring before anybody could wave their detector again anywhere in Victoria.

ok, so i havent found any gold YET, but in answer to your question... my VLF runs a lot better on wet mineralized ground than dry, dont know why but it does. I only ever find lead but when its wet i find so much more than when its dry. Now if only lead was worth money Rolling Eyes

Neally all targets in the ground create their own hallow and that hallow when wet seems to be more prominent, so that can make the target easier to pick up or even louder. Not only are you picking up the target but the hallow as well.

Hi march, Just watch out for Charcoal, when it is wet it sounds just like gold and you can dig an old burnt out tree root for hours looking for the signal.
Don't let it hold you back just get out there and find those suckers and show us more pics
