Re: wiring diagram/pic
Hi guys,
That diagram that Strayer posted is correct, but make sure that pins 1 and 5 are bridged on the coil plug. This helps with the high current pulses and will make the plug more wriggle resistant, ie less noise when the plug is wriggled.
Cheers Mick

Re: wiring diagram/pic
Hi Gazza,
1 and 5 should be bridged on both DD and mono coil plugs.
Cheers Mick

Re: wiring diagram/pic
hi guys thanks for all that info, have got the job done, for the DD, the heavier centre wire (in clear/white cable shielding) is the TX, goes to pin 4, the shielding wire from that cable goes to pin 5, the black wire (thin centre wire of other cable) is the RX goes to pin 2 and the shielding from that cable goes to pin 1, both 1 and 5 have a heave copper bridge between them( so that the sheilding from both cales is bridged together) and 3 and 4 also have a heavy copper bridge between them, and 1 and 5 are bridged in both DD and Mono coils. On the Mono 2, 3 and 4 are bridged, with 4 being the TX/RX heavy centre wire (clear/white shielding?) and 1 being the shielding and bridged between 1 and 5, hope that all makes sense, many thanks, regards, gazza

Re: wiring diagram/pic
Use the old one, mate. The Jaycar ones are not good enough.
The original had gold plated contacts, so If you can reuse it. ..

Re: wiring diagram/pic
How would one go about wiring the coil chassis plug from PCB to coil plug. Currently my F1A4 is wired up, Tx Red+Blue 2-3-4, and Rx Black+Yellow 1-5
How would i go about re-wiring the plug, (with a toggle switch) I'm guess to support DD coils (not that i plan to use them, but the option would be nice)
If anyone could post a diagram, or something. would be much appreciated.

Re: wiring diagram/pic
On all the SD, GP & GPX Minelab machines there is no switch, as the internals of the detector know if it is a Mono or DD coil which is attached.
Your F1A4 may be different, I have no idea as have never used one, why not ask the people who mod these machines.
cheers dave
