Any Toyota Hilux guru's around?
Have an 1986 Toyota 4x4 2.4 EFI that has a cold start problem. My friend changed the cold start injector time switch, didn't help..then he bypassed that switch and now takes 3 cranks to start, instead of the 6-7 cranks before..after being parked overnight.Runs/idles starts good all other times, except after long periods of time Any help?...thanks.

hard to start
hi there
check the fuel pressure at rail if ok then check injectors may have a bad one leaking down. some time with this problem you may get white smoke on first start up

Your friend changed the cold start injector switch? Does this mean he put another secondhand, possibly dud switch in or did he fit a new one?
A cold start switch normally increases the length of time the injectors stay open to allow more fuel for cold start. Bypassing this would shorten the pulse time making it harder to start when cold.
Maybe the Engine temperature sensor that gives the signal to the injector time switch is not working, or the air temp thermistor.
As Goldminer says, also a fuel rail pressure check may be in order. Could also be a poor fuel pressure pump or blocked fuel filter.
