QLD Lock Down
QLD is not allowing its own residence to get back home from interstate but there are several flights of covid 19 arriving in Brisbane from Dubai (From Dubai ASY071 arriving soon) and Singapore today and many OSs flights arriving in Melb, Sydney, Adl, Perth.... If they are not from hot spots for covid what is ??.
At least one flight has an unannounced Destinations but the flight path are clearly to Brisbane.

Re: QLD Lock Down
Does make you wander doesn't it. I have just returned from Georgetown QLD. Most nights I could hear a plane going over up very high, thinking back on it now they appeared to be going north.
Any ideas adrian

Plenty of flights going from Adl, Syd, Bris, Melb, to Singapore, Dubai, Bangkok, Hongkong, Kul, Taipei.
Also some domestic flights from Bris to Melb.
Just for interests sake.

Re: QLD Lock Down
Probably right but it seems that 10 or 20 cargo loads of international covid 19 & delta landing in all states of Australia is more important than a few stranded QLD locals interstate trying to get back home within their own country. and telling them that all of the Quarantine hotels are full and that they cannot Quar at their own homes. But plenty of room for the travellers in the international arriving aircraft.
Seems to me that lock-downs are causing more outbreaks that they are preventing; if it were otherwise, why are the case numbers growing faster and faster in NSW (where lock downs are greatest )and soon to be in Victoria.??

Without the lockdowns the case numbers in NSW would now be in the many thousands and in Vic in the many hundreds.

Re: QLD Lock Down
That is just pure guess work.
Case numbers are exploding in Sydney while vaccinations are high and lock downs are the most stringent. people are obeying the rules and are staying home in the millions and still the case numbers increase . Something is going awry

Yes the case numbers are increasing but not yet at an exp rate which they would if their were NO lockdowns. The effect of vaccinations are already evident from the lower death rates but we will not see the full effects of vaccination (including lower case numbers)until at least 70% of eligible people are fully vaccinated. ie until at mid october-november

Re: QLD Lock Down
Adrian, lets not leave half the story out here. Even with harsh lockdowns in place, how can case numbers not increase when you have half the population of infected people coming in to get tested, 7 days after they've been exposed to or infected with covid? Then we find out that half the ones that should be isolating at home are caught out & about dancing in the street?
This is why even with harsh government lockdowns, the number of infected people will continue to increase & the harder the government cracks down on people the harder some people will revolt & tend to go against the flow.
My apologies for my poor sense of humour here members, for catching covid-19 is nothing to be laughing about.
Kon.

Re: QLD Lock Down
When and if we get 70% of the ADULT population vaccinated this will leave roughly
6 million ADULT Australians sitting ducks to covid,[some cannot get vaccinated for legitimate health reasons].
If the plan is to open up, these remaining unvaccinated people will overwhelm our already stretched hospital system that's if they require admission.
NSW ICU units are currently at 80% capacity, this obviously includes non-covid pt's as well.
I'm guessing if nsw goes super nova they will need to air lift covid pt's around the country to other icu units, not a good scenario.
Realistically even at 80% fully vaccinated there still will be some sort of lock downs/restriction in place.
I'm thinking the spin Dr's will be trying to paint a rosier picture before the next up and coming federal election???????????

Re: QLD Lock Down
No doubt the government will try to paint a rosier picture before the upcoming elections moredeep, but given they had months in advance to properly prepare for this whole covid pandemic crisis (going by far earlier reports coming from overseas), should have been much better prepared to handle this virus crisis, than being no better off now, than what we were at the start of this pandemic & first lockdowns.
This is what happens when there are one to many cooks in the kitchen, each allowed to do their own thing.
No doubt these harsh lockdowns, are taking their toll on peoples mental health, as well as physical health.

Re: QLD Lock Down
And now WA & ADL will have to contend with the extra covid arriving with the evacuees from Afghanistan. None had been tested before leaving (wasn't possible) plus there will of course be a few Taliban arriving incognito with this mob. So we are copping a double hit.

Damn these lockdowns. One nice sunny day after another & we're all stuck indoors like rats staring up a dead end drain pipe. Patience Kon patience
