vanquish 540 pro
Hi all. been a long time because of an accident but regardless of years, I seek some help as regards the vanquish 540 pro.. Been told it is not suitable for gold just for beach and park treasures.. Has anyone successfully used it for gold detecting? If they did,, what settings or mode was used? Is it a purely toy machine? Any real experiences given would be a great help.Happy hunting, dundiggin.

Re: vanquish 540 pro
The 540 is a nice machine and is most suitable for coin, relic and beach detecting and will operate in the salt water quite well.
It transmits multi frequency continuously. The 540 is a great beginner and intermediate metal detector. Yes it will find gold in lightly iron mineralised ground; high iron mineral will be difficult. The Equinox 800 has a dedicated gold mode and will handle moderately high iron mineralisation. If the 540 is all you have then for sure take it to the gold fields and see what you can find, just remember gold is not easy to find , even with a top line machine. The 540 is not a machine I would take into the WA gold fields on a specialised gold hunting trip unless you are more interested in the scenery than finding gold.

RE: VANQUISH 540 PRO
Hi Adrian ss, I've been looking at lower priced machines and preferably lighter in weight and your comment I think has tipped the grey matter to the equinox which I had been salivating over.. Not in a position just now to venture to a SDC and the 7000 + 6000 are just wishful thinking, weightwise and pricewise. And detecting will be just a hobby and not a means to fabulous wealth.. But would be nice to score the odd bit now and again. Whether it is big or small I am now convinced to get a machine that,s built to detect gold.. Many thanks Adrian.

The old SD2100 is a good performer and you might jag one for around 700 dollars.
The top of the line machines are great to dream about but not many of us can justify the expense...Myself included.

RE: VANQUISH 540 pro
Good morning Adrian ss,, That is about the dollars I can manage at this time, and I have heard about the SDs and the stories were all good but I thought the machines' age might make it suss due the effects of time on its electronic parts.. Any way, If I find one I'll see if minelab or someone would check it over for quality.. Of course, if I talk about tectors long enough maybe, just maybe my accountant(bless her heart) may relent to shut me up... : or

I would assume that your detector is still under warranty with Minelab.
If that is the case, contact them and they should arrange for a repair or replacement.
