G'day all,
I know that the SDC was adapted from the early model countermine version, but this looks like a newer model for the military.

A few more controls on this one compared to the civilian version we can buy Shocked
Anyone know why Minelab didn't include the extras for us? And i know we don't look for mines but it would seem that the military version is more sensitive..Just wonderin' T10

It has discrimination?, if they can put it in this detector then why not others like new gpx and Z :? ??

It states clearly in the description that it is a combination of Pulse & continuous wave transmission. Therefore the discrimination is supplied by the Variable frequency VLF section.

It doesn't say it's a combined PI + VLF.
It says it "combines the advantages" of them. Marketing polish on Multi IQ technology.
The detector is a VLF using Simultaneous Multi Frequency i.e. basically an Equinox in a SDC.
Main difference (apart from external package):
MF5 = Four frequencies in the range 5 kHz to 75 kHz
Equinox = Five frequencies in the range 5 kHz to 40 kHz
The MF5 should be more sensitive to small metal objects at the 75kHz range v the Equinox at 40kHz.

Military orders only as far as I'm aware.
Apart from the higher frequency of 75kHz not sure why you'd want one though?
The Equinox is lighter, more ergonomic, same technology in a domestic package & would be many times cheaper than the MF5.
Maybe push Minelab for a Equinox "1100" with 6 frequencies including the 75kHz?

G'Day SB

I have worked at dod.gov.au a few times in ACT and they get all kinds of COTS stuff that is only for them, eg. 100 x Hiluxs a month from a 03 dealer that is military spec. - they like to have stuff like really strong mounting points in the middle of the tub in a star pattern, these roluxes go to Perth and other places were S-A-S has a presence Smile

Notice that this includes 'Test Piece' I will bet that is not AU !!!

Adrian that video is totally incorrect.
Read the comments or contact the bloke that made it. He got excited when he seen it online & got it wrong.

He is reading from the Minelab Information sheets. I have also read that sheet. Aside from him calling it the same as an SDC what else is incorrect?

He's reading a blog on another website where the author got the information incorrect. The author isn't representative of Minelab or a Minelab dealer. Nice enough bloke by the looks but got that one wrong.
The author on the blog he's reading seen the release of the MF5 & speculated it was the new prospecting detector release by the looks of it. It was prior to the GPX 6000 release so he assumed it was the rumoured new prospecting machine - it wasn't.
https://tryhardprospecting.com.au/is-this-the-ultimate-sdc-aka-mf5/

The YouTuber says:
- it's on the market. Well that's partially correct but you won't see one in a Minelab dealers shop.
- it's a SDC & (GPX sic) 7000 combined - incorrect. It's not Pulse Induction or ZVT at all let alone combined.
- better than a 5000 or 4500. Maybe for mine detection but not prospecting.
- It's a SDC on steroids. Ahh no it's a Multi IQ VLF in a bulky package.
- SDC + 7000 with discrimination. Wrong again.
- you can buy one. No not ordinarily you can't.
- best thing on the market. No it isn't especially not for prospecting.
The rest is pretty right in regards to it's design & functions as a Mine Detector.
