Geothermal power is the go, plenty of it in Australia .

Too expensive, Too complicated to achieve here on a large scale.
Not easy to get heat in hot rocks 2000 metres below the surface to heat a vast water supply and convert it to steam.
It works in New Zealand because the water is not deep and it is heated by volcanism which is also not deep.
Also in Australia the hot geothermal water is only around 80 or so degrees C which means it would have to be heated even more before it would be of use.

They do not have to convert it to steam , see the one at Winton Q'land .

When Geodynamics drilled a deep bore , they were surprised to find hot brine water at that depth . You get the energy from heat transfer , it does not have to be steam or made into steam .

My understanding is that:

For geothermal electricity power production:

Hot water is pumped from deep underground through a well under high pressure.
When the water reaches the surface, the pressure is dropped, which causes the water to turn into steam.
The steam spins a turbine, which is connected to a generator that produces electricity.

In Australia there is not a lot of hot underground water but plenty of hot rock.
The water has to be forced through the rock to pick up heat it is then pumped to the surface, turned to steam that drives a turbine that produces electricity that heats and lights the house that jack built. Very Happy

Geodynamics ran the Habanero Geothermal Project in S.A. The pilot plant ran for 160 days . Well head temp. was 215 ° c.

Yes, I am still around !   I have not  made any money from cryptos as yet   .   Looking at setting up a robot to do the buying and selling .  Go  to www.pionex.com     The robot will set the limits or you  can set your own . It is free .

I did own 10 Bitcoin in Aug. 2016 cost $793 each . It would be nice if I still had them .
