Yes hopefully science can keep on top of this virus although at the rate it is mutating now it might be an uphill battle. Even the more common flu is starting to get the better of us..

The virus is not  "clever" its being driven by evolution  to become more rapidly infectious.All the virus wants to do is to make as many copies of itself as rapidly as possible.To replicate it needs a host and the more  hosts it can infect rapidly the more copies of itself it can make! The mutations so far are in the spike protein and enable the covid variants to more rapidly bind  and more tightly bind to the ace receptor  found on the surface of many human cells.

The vaccines are NOT , frankensteined experimental vaccines!!!!!! As i have said previously they have gone through the most rigorous testing protocols just like any other TGA approved vaccines! And  remember so far nearly 20 million people have been vaccinated with  very few serious side  effects even with 4x the max dose with one vaccine in elderly patients!

A bit like the politicians, for they too have a tendency of rapidly binding together in order to inflict more pain on the people.

Was at the Bay today for another detect with the TDI and on the way home I stopped in Bungendore for a cuppa.
The table opposite mine had three ladies sitting there and one was coughing her lungs out all over everything and into several tissues. When she left she stuffed the tissues into here coffee cup and walked out. How to spread covid in one easy lesson.
I warned the waitress to put on a hazmat suit before touching the cup.

Some people are oblivious about their own actions, I don't know how to describe some of the idiotic things I've seen.
Naive, ignorant, dumb or just plain aware of the people around them.
I saw a bloke some months ago sneeze into his hand then wipe his hands on his pants and carried on his merry way in the super market.
Prior to covid I saw my checkout person sneeze into their hands and carry on, I politely ask her to sanitize her hands before she continued on.
I then spoke to her boss about hygiene practices in the work place.
I guess some people just don't get it or want to get it

If it is not alive then it cannot Want to do anything...If it is to evolve then it has to be alive in order to become aware of the surroundings in order to trigger evolutionary changes.....True it does not have to be clever.
Is a crystal alive??....It grows/reproduces itself into almost exact copies of itself by extracting the necessary atoms and molecules from the natural surroundings and destroys the host rock in the process...Maybe a crystal is a virus..

Some viruses seem to be too highly structured to be non living, non aware Aye.

I see another 14 (Min) virus loaded flights arriving from overseas today. What a freaking joke.

And you'll keep seeing more & more people/tourists coming through into Australia as the months follow Adrian, for the whole nation is dependant on overseas product & more importantly tourism.
This is why inadvertently & eventually, all citizens of Australia (whether one agrees to it or not) will be left with no choice but to get vaccinated. Just to high a risk & price to pay, by not being vaccinated.

We had our second astra vacc yesterday.
My wife who is a gym junkie and very fit collapsed and passed out on our family room couch last night 6 hours after receiving the vacc and ended up in hospital for the night, Was not fun. ....Is okay now. I feel a bit sick in the belly but otherwise am ok.

Gday Wishing your wife a full recovery and you also. Think I would feel sick too with that happening. Take care.

I'm sorry to hear of such a thing happening Adrian &  a speedy/safe recovery to both of you. I'm having my second shot come Saturday & all I can hope for, is things going well (just like anybody else voluntary or involuntary taking the vaccine), for what other choice do we have. People can run, but not hide from this type of virus forever & I'm certainly not game in finding out what effects it could have on me, from not being vaccinated.

The odd hiccup is inevitable with these sort of things,we just don't won't it to be someone we know or love.
I remember the old TB jab we got at tech school [early 70's ],just about every kid got an infected jab site,then again it could have been something to do
with the SAME needle that was run through a methylated spirits burner and used on EVERY student

Wife is ok today and wanted to go shopping I said not a chance in hell sport and sent her to bed for the day (so I could watch the olympics )

Hell yeas I remember those metho  burners and the same needles being used repeatedly although at the time we didn't know that it could be dodgy.
i recall when our class was all lined up outside the Town hall waiting to get the diphtheria shot. I got sick/scared of waiting and nicked off. To this day I have not had a diphtheria vacc.

Even my kids had the Metho burner Needles from a specialist those needles were a lot larger thickness too. Good to hear your wife is OK mate. My daughter in-law had the Pfizer-BioNtech and had to go to the emergency ward due to it's effects after observation, recovered at home fully after 48 hours. My son had no troubles at all. Everyone is different and react differently the wife and I had no trouble with both shots of our AstraZeneca.

Glad to hear she pulled through alright Adrian. Like Geof said, its different for everyone, but, considering the vaccine were produced within a year, instead of 5 or 7, in order to combat this impending threat, doesn't make it any easier to stand up & be counted.
None the less & something for all of us to keep in mind is that, the ones fully vaccinated (& although highly protected themselves) can still catch & pass on this strain of covid virus, when in close contact with another, leading to possible devastating effects on an unvaccinated person. This is why I said before, one can continue to avoid being vaccinated, in the hope of something more reassuring comes along in way of vaccine, or take ones chances now by being vaccinated with what's currently available, avoiding the chances of contracting this virus & possibly ending up in hospital, fighting for ones life.  
Now although the decision to have or not to have the vaccine, is currently up to each & every one of us, the so called loopholes of avoiding a vaccine, are closing down with each passing month.
Sooner or later, directly or indirectly & to some degree or another, vaccination will be a mandatory prerequisite, in order to be allowed to live, a normal lifestyle once again.

I agree to some degree but if I had not been home the outcome for my wife would very likely have been much worse.

i just read yesterday Kon,that the vaciene astra z was developed 30 years ago, because of sars, but because sars went away, they didn't complete the testing phase, this report came out the other day, with reserch documentation, as every one is panicking about getting the vac, they should of made this clear earlier, to stop all the FUD. so that's interesting.

Interesting indeed & couldn't agree with you more there roofa. There's an old saying, "what man don't understand he tends to fear" & this is what confusion does to people.  All they've done is constantly confuse people by saying this one day & that the next, when the most important part of getting through this pandemic & back to normal life as quickly as possible, were to be honest with the general public from day one. Be clear in explaining the so called good/bad & ugly about what each type of currently available vaccine does or is capable of & why we should all get vaccinated, then offer the people a variety of vaccine choice. As things stand & from what I gather, its now a rush to offload as much Astrazenica as they possibly can (before batches expire) because of not ordering enough of the Pfyzer from earlier on. All the rest of confusing rhetorical talk to me personally, is political jargon.  It would have been a hell of a lot more productive as well as cheaper taking this path of communication, than what the damage of lockdowns have or have had, on both ones mental state, as well as the nations economy.

We're veterans at it now albeit a tad worse for wear, mentally rather than physically.

Roughly the same area as in the above flight infested regions.
300.000.000 people as opposed to our 24,000,000....So I have a 0.18 % chance of contracting and dying from covid....I am more likely to be killed in a car crash.
We are a joke. Open the country up and lets get on with living.
We have all had approx 2 years of living taken away from us and when you are 75+ that is a big slab cut out of the years remaining.

If we keep isolating ourselves from this virus we will at the same time be weakening our immunity to the flu and other virus. The flu has bee oddly quiet the past 18 months or so and many people will possibly not get their regular flu shot and in a year or maybe two we will have a huge flu outbreak that could prove to be worse than the covid 19.
