New gold hunter
G'day all, my name is Jason.
I had a go at detecting and panning years ago finding mostly trash.
Think I'll have another go, but I could use some help to get going if anyone has time.
My weapon of choice is a Minelab SDC2300.
I've got a vehicle and most days with nothing to do.
Be great to learn detecting tips and geographic knowledge.
Regards Jase

Re: New gold hunter
Good luck Jase,
Spend an hour or three going through the posts here regarding the SDC-2300.
Type in SDC 2300 in the "search" box, top RH corner.
Heaps of valuable information.

Re: New gold hunter
Welcome to the forum Sparkyjw
Also research via various gold books, containing detailed information on old gold workings & the type of gold encountered there, such that of ("The History of Gold Discovery in Victoria" by James Flett) is a good book to start off with. The rest relies on ground time & mastering your detector.
Cheers Kon.

Re: New gold hunter
Kon said try "The History of Gold Discovery in Victoria" by James Flett" it was one of the first gold reference books that I used when I first started to chase GOLD.
If you have a look under "Information on Goldfields" on this Forum and have a look at my post
"Historical Gold Mines in Google Earth"
You may find it helpful to find some spots to prospect. Best of luck with your hobby but be careful that you don't get hooked for nearly 60 years like me
