Re: Unusual metal detector (Maybe)
Thanks for bringing this detector to our attention Adrian,I don't know what to say about it.
All I know is that; in the the detector world the question will be, "HOW DEEP DOES IT GO"?
We all know that if a new PI machine comes out and guarantees an extra 6" to 8" in depth, it'll open up the gold fields again.
Be interesting to see the reviews.

Re: Unusual metal detector (Maybe)
Some of the guys on PA looked at it at the turn of the year and reckon it is, currently, more suited as a beach machine.

Re: Unusual metal detector (Maybe)
Yes it does appear to be aimed at the beach coin and relic mob and at approx 1500 USD it is not cheap.
Little bit of info here from another forum.

Reic hunt vid.

The machine seems to be ok but I must admit that I think even my old Fisher 553D could have found any of those items in the relic hunt vid.
The beach test is pretty good but on the other hand I have pulled wet sand beach targets (20cent coins size stuff) out at 18 to 20 inches with my Gold Bug Pro and Infinium, safari and old Soveriegn XS.
So although the detector appears good,I am not super impressed with the Tarsacci at this point
I would like to see how the Tarsacci fairs over average iron mineralised ground. The type of ground that will GB at about 8 on a GB VLF with a GB scale range of one to ten where ten will ground balance with difficulty.

Re: Unusual metal detector (Maybe)
Sounds like a P in The A to set up for differing conditions at the beach where as with my old Sov XS, Safari, (which detect very deep and with excellent stability),I just turn them on and start searching. I guess as with any detector ya just have to get used to it. Sounds like it would be a bit of a handful for a beginner. At around 2000+ AUD I will stick with what I have got for beach, coin, relic and gold work.

Re: Unusual metal detector (Maybe)
By the way Adrian,do you know of a minelab coil that will suit the sov xs or another brand of coil suited to the sov xs?

Re: Unusual metal detector (Maybe)
First up is that the only coils that will work correctly on the Sov are BBS tecta designed coils. No other random coil will work.
The Sov can also use coils for the XS-2, XS-2A, XS Elite and the GT.
Sov coils are few and far between these days but I know Coiltek, Detech Nel, sunray to name a few made coils for the Sov.
Detech had a nice 13 inch DD that was great for beach work. Detech also made a 14 x 10 DD . There was also a 12 x 10 Sef Coil.
I know of a Sunray 5 incher (S-5 Intruder).
The Coiltek 15 inch WOT (Wonderful Orange Thing) is my fav sov coil for beach work.
The original Minelab 8 inch CoinSearch is excellent general purpose coil.
Coils for the Ex calibre should work on the Sov but they likely do not have the same plug connector coz Excal is waterproof.
Good luck in finding a coil
Caution!! There is a 15 inch WOT for the Xterra series. This will not work on the Sov.

Re: Unusual metal detector (Maybe)
Thanks for that Adrian,I somehow knew it was going to be a hard task.
I will check with coiltek though, that's good advice
I think it's just a case of waiting and watching on ebay/gum tree.
cheers moredeep

I see no such claims
I do see the MDT: Mixed Domain Technology, but it's Not a PI detector.
It does however work well on wet salt water beaches that also contain black sand.
Want to come for a first hand test . . . ?
