I have seen " new chums " come to dig opal and find a good pocket . Without knowing any thing .

Jen, You know as well I this all stems from the B******t reality TV shows where gold is laying every where waiting for some fool to come and pick it up.
These stories are what gets the unwary in life threatening situations.
An earlier story somewhere in the archives I mentioned the couple dressed for Melbourne Cup day out in remote WA outback looking for the nuggets sticking out of the ground. Hopelessly bogged, well they thought so, didn't have their front hubs locked in???????????
The media do report a lot of worthy reports but they should be held accountable for life threatening, misleading information.
