40e question Empty 40e question

Hi, Some help on a 40e question please. Its that time of the year to start planning for this years adventure.
I am looking at 2 Exploration leases in WA that expire around the time I wish to go there. One is just before and one is just after.
Do I apply anyway or is it a waste of time and money. Should I expect that they will just be renewed, Or If someone else takes them up do they change to pending.
Has anyone come across this problem before.
Any advice would be much appreciated.
Thanks
Mark

If they get extended which is usually the case, your 40E's will still apply. If they expire and new ones are applied or then you are entitled to prospect on pending ground so you are covered without 40E's.
If the owners apply to convert them to mining leases you will still be covered by the 40E's as the underlying Exploration leases will stay live until the M applications are decided.
Two 40E's will cost less than a gram of gold so cover all bases and apply for them.

Thanks Dozer, what you say makes sense, I will just do it and see what happens.
Cheers
Mark.
