We are camped at Burtville tonight. Have any members ever found any nuggets here ? Not sure if it was fine gold or nuggetty gold found on this goldfield.
Thanks,

Re: Burtville WA, 25km SE of Laverton.
Have found our share in the area, had 40e in W of the Brightstar pit. I would suggest a 40e around the area of Macs Lucky, you may be able to get decent access via the disused haul road Burtville/Granny Smith. I think GSM may hold most of the tenements that area now.

Re: Burtville WA, 25km SE of Laverton.
Thanks. We have a large 40e that surrounds the main open cut. I will try to find some info regarding the mines you have mentioned.
It sounds like the East side is a better bet than the West side, where we are camped now. Would you agree with that ?
Thanks for your help.

The easiest would be to say approx. 26-47-00E 122-30-00S.
About 5km. down on the W side of Hacks Well road there is a line of old workings. Behind this is an old but well defined track running WNW. This crosses the Burtville Granny Smith haul road at about 6km. and a further 4km. is the area which I consider very prospective in the vicinity of Macs Lucky mine.
You can also get access in from opposite the Ida Hill mine about 12km. from Laverton. The Laverton map sheet SH51-12 will give you a better picture.
Don't forget were on a 60/40 split here
Good luck.......mike

Re: Burtville WA, 25km SE of Laverton.
Well we got nothing around the Brightstar Mine, so we headed of to a Pending Lease at Mt Weld. We have had no coverage for a while. There was four mines down there and beautiful looking detecting ground.....but no nuggets.
Back in Leonora now after going up to a Regis Resources lease on an E40. Once again, great looking ground, but I think the mines were taking out fine gold. We did find one small 50m square area with detector holes, but they had totally cleaned it out. I kept saying to myself " nobody gets it all", but it didn't help ,
Tomorrow we are off to an E40 down near Kookine.
Thanks for your help.
