Change In Forum Server IP Address
For any member having trouble logging on, please take note that, "golddetecting.4umer net" is now "golddetecting.forumotion.net"
Cheers Management.

Re: Change In Forum Server IP Address
Well bugger me Kon, I just sent you a PM saying I couldn't access site.
Up until yesterday my desktop link from years ago golddetecting.4urmer net has worked, actually it was golddetecting.4umer net, without the "r" in "umer".
Weird that it worked all this time and stopped yesterday?
Anyway all good can access site again.
Cheers
Peter

Re: Change In Forum Server IP Address
No worries Pete. I didn't change anything. The moment I updated the forum in order to gain more megabytes for downloading, as well as getting rid of all unwanted annoying adds that kept popping up, automatically changed the the former IP address from (golddetecting.4urmer.net) to golddetecting.forumotion.net, which now brings you directly into this "Gold Detecting & Prospecting site"
This site can also be accessed by entering "golddetecting.forumotion.com" instead of net, which in turn brings up the "Gold Detecting & Prospecting forum" but does not automatically bring one directly onto this "Gold Detecting & Prospecting Forum" site.
Cheers Kon.

Re: Change In Forum Server IP Address
I just spent two days recovering my computer hard drive and reinstalled an older 2017 backup - which didn't have my new web-browser links to this forum. I tried Googling to find the site's new address but nothing showed up. I went through about 14 different search options with no luck. In the past I sometimes stumbled over old images that I'd posted here so I tried looking for old posts, pictures, links or headlines but nothing worked. It's as though the site has no outside profile unless you know it's here. I eventually found my way back by following a photograph of a small nugget that I recognized from being posted here recently by another member. Whew! I figured this place had closed or jumped servers again.

Re: Change In Forum Server IP Address
I lost ya's also there for a while, ended up finding it again via another forum where someone was looking for it also.
Some other clown on that same thread had nothing nice to say about our forum so I road him of as a twat and moseyed on back.

Re: Change In Forum Server IP Address
Thanks Hoff. Its always the hand full few that give the rest of us a bad name/reputation. This forum (less the odd silly confrontation between members in the past) has set the standard towards invaluable metal detecting information world wide, which in turn has helped the many & this I give praise to the good contributing members of this forum. A forum is only as good as its contributing members. Ask in earnest & you shall be given an honest answer, but what honest answer can one give, when the question asked, is full of spite? The rules of this forum couldn't be any clearer. Respect for one another is all that management has ever asked for, so I ask all (reminding even myself) to think before one puts up their post criticising/condemning another.
Cheers Kon.

Connecting to this forum
Like many I have had trouble connecting to this forum, but now have put the link into my favourites so that should not be a problem any more.
When I typed Gold detecting into my browser (MS Edge) I could not find the link to this forum despite looking through 8 pages and instead there were heaps of ones for Prospecting Australia and others that did not even begin with "Gold Detecting"
I like this forum but worried that with browser access limiting new members finding us the future may be more difficult than it should.
I have no idea how browsers select their offerings to people making a search for specific words. Can anyone shed any light on that and offer any ideas how our link could feature more highly in browser offerings?

Browsers themselves, on their own do not search. Most always the search engine of choice is set in the settings. Most also search favourites or history from the address (url) bar.
Best to save any sites you like as favourites, then you can always find them again. If this forum was on its own server and software, there would be a lot more search engine results for it.
