Esperance bound
Have to spend four days in Esperance with work shortly ,tough I know but someones got to do it.I was wondering if anyone has had a swing between Esperance and Norseman as I thought I read somewhere that it was gold producing at some stage of its history

Re: Esperance bound
What a hard life eh! Esperance is a beautiful place.
I have only been over that way twice but I am fairly sure that I noticed diggings behind 'The Great Western Hotel' in Norseman.
Hopefully someone with some more local knowledge may be able to shed some light for you.
Cheers

Re: Esperance bound
Just whipped out my g&g volume 1 and it has a bit on the dundas field and also Phillips River area around Ravensthorpe that may be worth having a look at on my way back to perth ,anything down south has to be better than burning your brains out up on the Black Range, last time I was up that way I spent a couple of days in a cattle trough and the rest of the time in a beer trough but whose complaining.

Re Esperance bound
I know its a bit late for a message to this thread, but here goes.
Only Last year we decided to go to Esperance on the last leg of our annual trip to the west. a long way down the road from Norseman, I needed a nature call, and I pulled over and took a walk into the scrub, after walking about 100 meters through thick Scrub, I came across some diggings, which were definitely some Kind of mining diiggings similar to those in the golden triangle in Vic. There were literally hundreds of them. These were really old diggings and well grown over. No one goes around the bush digging hundreds of holes if there is nothing there. I took a GPS reading , punched it into tengraph and searched historical sites etc, and found it was under exploration licence only. There appeared to be no record of any mining ever being done there, It has all the appearances of being part of an old gold rush but who knows, Might have been huge Wombats. But Wambats dont leave the sort of rubbish that was laying around there.
