Is crevicing still a thing ?
I have been watching a few videos on crevicing techniques after a bloke showed me what he had found somewhere in the GT . A few small bits of gold ,but it all adds up the more you go out and do it, i suppose.
Do many people still do this ? There is only one thread on here that is 7 years` old , so i don`t know if many of you are still doing this or are you getting better results from panning, sluicing or detecting ?
The videos i`ve seen show how it is done , but i can`t get a handle on how much time you would spend digging or cleaning out a crevice and processing the material onsite . Would you spend all day scratching pockets of dirt out of a dry creekbed or do a few hours and go home? I know this all depends on how big a crevice you are working on ,but do you generally get something for your efforts ?
Cheers.

Hi too much dirt
It can be a lot of work, but Fun seeing some colour come from the crevices
For us we didnt get a lot for our efforts but that depends where your working
Hopefully some members will be able to answer you better than i have.

Re: Is crevicing still a thing ?
Thanks, Jen .
The youtube videos i watched show a fair bit of small gold being picked up using homemade hand tools and yabbie pumps and a fair bit of hard yakka . Great to watch and learn this stuff . The bloke doing these videos just tells you straight out how it is done without all the dramatic background music and warbling on and shows you the simple ,but effective techniques he uses. Watch enough of these docos and you start to learn what to look for before you even take the tools out of your kitbag .
I have many running creeks and dry creeks beds to do this sort of thing around my area ,so i think i might give it a shot. I`m gonna give sluicing a go ,too ,but i`ll ask questions under another topic.
Cheers.
