Etrex 20 - GPS settings Empty Etrex 20 - GPS settings

Post  Aussiefind Mon Sep 11, 2017 1:41 pm

Hi All

I have tried to search the answer but some of the old thread are not available. Can someone confirm the three settings in the Etrex 20 for GDA94 maps - DMP Maps WA

Position format? Assuming MGRS
Map Datum? GDA94
Map Spheroid? GRS80

UNITS
Distance & Speed: Metric?
Elevation: (m/min)?
Depth: Meters
Temp (C)

Any assistance would be appreciated

Our GPS is a bit older but it uses WGS84 which is about the same as Map Spheroid? GRS80 and the Map Datum? GDA94 is the correct one to use, this is what the DMP use for there Tengraph system

Position format? Assuming MGRS, we use UTM (Universal Transverse Mercator) other people use the various Lat/Long systems.
(MGRS The Military Grid Reference System is an alternative way of representing UTM coordinates)

We also use the metric measurements for distance (km) height (m) and speed (km) etc

The GPS hand held units that we have are Magellan explorist 500 and a Garmin etrex30

cheers dave
